I have 2 issues: The towels were not picked up from the bathroom shower and replaced. It's usually the practice to replace to said towels. This was on my last night. The 2nd was the construction that started outside shortly at 6 am and this was work being done on the hotel; therefore, the hotel has the right to ensure your clients' rest. "Ottawa’s Noise By-law (No. 2017-255) restricts loud or disturbing sounds, including amplified music and shouting, between 11 PM and 7 AM"

“Great location, historic building, some issues with amenities”

I wish the hotel’s great location and history could have outweighed the issues we had. We stayed in the newly renovated Confederation Room. The bathroom was fantastic. Big howevers: The marble countertops in the kitchenette had not been sealed, so the counter already had dozens of ring stains, and the kitchen sink had not been fully cleaned on our arrival. The suite has no in room safe, and although a maintenance engineer was sent up to the room when we complained, the issue was not resolved during our stay and no one from the staff even followed up with us to explain or apologize. The queen bed is a Murphy bed, so the pillows sink into the crack between the mattress and the wall, and the foot of the mattress sinks into the frame with any weight applied. None of the light switches can be reached from the bed, so in the middle of the night, I tripped and fell on the black footstool sitting on the black carpet at the end of the bed when I got up to use the bathroom. This is a serious safety hazard, and the hotel needs to invest in some floor level motion sensing lights. Only one person serving as a combo bellman/valet was on duty when we arrived on Friday evening, so the entryway was quite backed up. The hot tub is tiny, and the pool amenities(towels, chairs, etc) are cheap and uncomfortable for the level of hotel the Lord Elgin would like to be.

I rented three rooms for a family wedding. Took three attempts by person to make sure one room had a crib, one mobility room had a bed rail even though we were assured these accommodations had these even when we arrived. I rented three rooms for a family wedding. Took three attempts by person to make sure one room had a crib, one mobility room had a bed rail even though we were assured these accommodations had these even when we arrived. They were not in the rooms. Last minute help came by housekeeping. The mobility room needs to have a lower bed. Two handicapped persons in my family had a hard time getting on the bed. Lowering it or adding a step could make it easier. My daughter’s room’s a/c did not work. She adjusted the thermostat but when she came home after midnight the room felt like 30 degrees. She did mention it to an employee in the hallway, who could feel the temperature change from the hallway. He asked if she wanted the maintenance people to come up but she didn’t want people coming in the room at that point since her baby was sleeping, and did not want him to be awakened.
