“Great Classic Hotel in a great location”

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. It is close to the NAC, Parliament and the Market. I would highly recommend it. The food served was also first rate.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this property and can confidently say it was one of the most outstanding hotel experiences I’ve had in Ottawa. Interestingly, my decision to book here over another well known nearby property came down entirely to two phone conversations I had prior to arrival with a staff member named Alexa. From the very first interaction, he demonstrated a rare combination of professionalism, warmth, and genuine attentiveness. He took the time to answer every question thoroughly, anticipated my needs, and ensured I felt completely confident in my decision before I had even secured a reservation. That level of service before arrival is something you don’t often encounter, and it truly set this hotel apart from the start. Upon arrival, the experience continued seamlessly. Talia at the front desk provided a warm and polished welcome, making the check in process effortless. Her attention to detail and authentic hospitality immediately reinforced the high standard set from my initial interactions. The room itself exceeded expectations, spacious, quiet, well maintained, and exceptionally comfortable. It provided the perfect environment to relax and recharge. Housekeeping was equally impressive. The entire property was consistently clean and well cared for, and my room was maintained to a very high standard each day. Veronica deserves special recognition for her friendliness and attention to detail, which did not go unnoticed. As someone who travels frequently, I’ve stayed in many hotels, and while cleanliness and comfort can be found in many places, it is also the people who truly define an exceptional stay. The team here clearly takes pride in delivering a thoughtful and elevated guest experience. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Ottawa who values genuine service, comfort, and consistency.

I stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel for Ottawa Race Weekend and booked both the Churchill Suite and the Rideau Suite for three nights. Overall, my family had a lovely stay, and the experience was very positive, especially thanks to the hotel’s unbeatable location. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and professional, and room service was impressively fast. The hotel offers all the key amenities you’d want (gym, pool, and efficient valet parking) and being right next to Confederation Park makes it incredibly convenient. For marathon weekend, you truly can’t beat this location... it’s essentially at the start line, which made logistics effortless. That said, the rooms themselves are quite dated. Small details (like plastic non-smoking placards on desks) gave parts of the space an unexpectedly budget, almost motel-like feel, which doesn’t align with the otherwise solid experience. While the bathrooms appeared to be more recently renovated, the kitchen in the Churchill Suite felt like stepping back in time and seemed decades old. On a positive note, the kitchen was very well stocked with cooking supplies, which was a pleasant surprise and added real functionality for a longer stay. Overall, I would absolutely consider staying here again, primarily for the location... especially for race weekend. However, if you’re someone who prioritizes modern, updated interiors, this may not fully meet expectations.

Location was great. Valet parking. Breakfast good. There are some renovations being done at hotel. Our room was on the small size for a king bed room, limited space. Not much floor space to open suitcases. The fan was noisy in bathroom, no switch to turn it off. The thermostat was also noisy so … more

Not much floor space to open suitcases. The fan was noisy in bathroom, no switch to turn it off. The thermostat was also noisy so we turned it off. Coffee and tea in room was good.
