My tween daughter and I stayed at Le Chateau du Lac for one night in February 2024. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who loves charming old architecture! Our booking was extremely last minute, made mid-afternoon after deciding we just couldn’t bear to end our vacation in Quebec. About five minutes after I submitted the reservation via a third-party booking site, I received a phone call giving me a heads-up that the property’s desk would not be staffed so I should instead check in at the sister property just down the road. My electronic booking confirmation had informed me of this, but I thought that it was a nice touch that the hotel also reached out to me by phone to ensure I was aware. Upon entering Le Chateau du Lac, it was hard to leave the foyer. It was just so gorgeous and filled with so much character! I live in an historic home from the same time period (late 1800s) and absolutely love old architecture…this property is a must for anyone who feels the same way. We made our way up the stunning staircase to our room (I believe it was room 3), which featured a cozy queen bed and what appeared to be original wide-plank wood flooring. The bedroom wasn’t very large and lacked any seating, but it was certainly fine for the two of us for one night. Bathrobes were provided, and there was a hanging rack for storage. Being an older property, there’s not much noise insulation, so ear plugs may be warranted for light sleepers. The bathroom was very spacious and updated. The heating system worked well for warmth, but there wasn’t any cooling (it was February though, so it may have been shut off) so we had to open a window in the bathroom overnight because the room was uncomfortably hot. There was a deck located directly out the bedroom and bathroom windows; it wasn’t clear if this is for communal use in the warmer months, but if so, I might not have enjoyed our stay as much. The hotel was located a short walk from the main street of Magog, which is lined with shops and restaurants. The purpose of our visit was ice skating, and we loved the easy access to the skating trails of Pointe-Merry Park. We could even see the park from the parking area, allowing us to gauge how busy it was. Upon returning from dinner, we explored the large first-floor common area of the hotel, which had a very historic, cozy feel and was perfect for sipping a cup of coffee using the provided K-cup machine. Overall, we would definitely stay here again if we found a similarly good price. The room was decent, but the real appeal was in the historical building as a whole, and it was very well located for easy access to charming Magog.

“Very nice and friendly”

This is lovely old home and very friendly in both Languages. Comfortable rooms, relaxing parlour and a fantastic breakfast . Close by downtown bars and restaurants and stroll along the lake and river. I really recommend this place. Will return.

“Quaint older hotel”

A quaint older hotel. There is nobody on site for check in; you park at the hotel and walk across the street to another hotel to get your key and the code for the front door. The hotel is clean quiet and convenient but definitely old. There is no elevator so you have to climb stairs to your room.

Not often someone at front desk. Breakfast not included as advertised. You could pay to go across street to sister hotel which is where you may have to check in depending on the time. It was fine for our purposes but I wouldn’t stay here again.
