4 nights paid thru booking.com because I perceived some Montreal accommodation can be illegal. We received a few emails from another company linked to booking.com prior to our arrival, advising a Doorman would greet us. At arrival early evening no staff visible but our helpful Taxi manoeuvred our entry very cleverly when another resident opened door for himself, but Taxi driver lingered with obvious concern. My husband phoned a number and spoke with a woman who showed annoyance we were inside Lobby without Doorman’s help. Said he was around. Well he wasn’t. Eventually a Security Man wondered in and we bailed him up asking for help. We showed him booking.com pages but he pushed aside saying meant nothing and suggested they only dealt with 3 companies. None known to us. My husband and I froze in fear, thinking for first time in 25 years of travelling we had been scammed. No room at the Inn. I put booking.com pages on desk and begged him to look at them. He phoned someone, rummaged in desk and handed over an envelope with 3 numbers on - our apartment. Had a key inside. Our surname wasn’t on envelope. Surely cross referencing a name with the relevant room number is the obvious way to link guest to paid for accommodation quickly. We asked for minimal information from the gentleman, grudgingly given and proceeded with trepidation to apartment. 3 elevators in complex and it is all fastidiously clean. Our 1 bedroom apartment was spartan but comfortable and had all we wanted and had sought. I’d say original fitout, 10 years old and showing age and a few pieces of original furniture removed. Spacious bathroom with large vanity cupboard. Thin threadbare towels so small my usually not observant husband rushed out with 1 and bath mat asking which was which or was towel a hand towel. Bed linen too was vintage. Strange arrangement with bed mattress atop a smaller mattress inside the box base, but bed was comfortable. I fixed closet sliding doors which were wrongly lined up on tracks. Obviously original lamps throughout the apartment need turfing along with the torn paper lightshade cantilevered over the dining table and all curtains immediately draw attention to the fact they are 2 feet too long for all windows and disguised what was in fact a good view of pool, Hotel Dauphin Beer Garden and the surprisingly attractive high rise of downtown Montreal. The kitchenette of the apartment was fantastic and Batterie de Cuisine excellent. We never ate out. Wifi excellent. Laundry in cupboard excellent, tho doors need realigning. When I went to use iron it had died. Never found a hairdryer. Elevators fantastic. Trash disposal system excellent. Staff invisible. Location perfect. Palais des Congres across the road invaluable. We used the Metro easily. Foreigners with awful French but Metro Staff helped us get out and about. The shops and eateries in the Palais useful. Access to the Underground City via the Palais is fantastic. On a slippery day out underground access to the IGA was probably a lifesaver. Surely the biggest IGA on the planet. Also so close to Vieux Montreal and Vieux Port Montreal. Notre Dame de Montreal is beautiful and impressive. Not over the top and the Christmas Lights were sensational. We enjoyed our stay at Bleury and recommend it but suggest management need to do inspections and a bit of maintenance and refreshing is required here and there. Not all guests, especially foreigners, might be as low maintenance as we are. Some/more staff presence for help and information would be advisable.

The building is located in a very startegic place: between old Montreal, Place des arts and Ste Catherine. You can find right next to it the Place d'Armes metro Station. We rented the big apartment with 2 bedrooms. The apartment was fully equipped (Kitchen and bathroom). No services were provided (cleaning only twice per month). The concierges are super friendly and the management team was very professional. Overall we had an excellent stay.

“Good location, bit of maintenance needed in rentals & staff thin on ground.”

The location was perfect. Opposite Palais des Congres with a Metro station, lots of eateries including a Subway food, a mini grocery mart and entrance to the famous Underground City of Montreal. Short easy walking to Vieux Montreal, Port Montreal, Basilique de Montreal. The complex itself has a few oddities and issues. It is not an Hotel, so no 24/7 Reception staff. We rented on booking.com and received advice we would be met and given entry by a Doorman. At our early evening arrival by Taxicab there was no Doorman. Our very concerned Taxi driver gained us entry by rushing in with a suitcase after a resident let himself in. We were then in but no staff. My husband phoned a number from paperwork and we were told the Doorman was there. Not visibly he wasn’t. A security man wandered in and grudgingly eventually found our key which was not linked to our name. Surely the Guest name is pivotal to all transactions. Guard initially refused to look at our paperwork, saying he had no familiarity with booking.com etc., We thought we had been scammed. After decades of travel we stood there thinking we had paid for a room but did not have 1. Huge relief to be given a key to the apartment. We had a 9th floor 1 bedroom self-catering apartment looking down onto the attractive pool, frozen and closed at that time but would be lovely in summer. Pertinent to all, we presume the apartments are mostly owned/residential and a few are vacation rentals. Very clean throughout. Wifi worked. 3 huge elevators, never any waiting. Our apartment was spacious and with some maintenance could be fantastic. The kitchenette was amazing and had all the Batterie de cuisine anyone could want. Full domestic frig, turkey sized upright stove, dishwasher, classy crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans. From old photos our apartment seemed to have original fixtures and fittings. Mostly a good thing as was once State of the Art, if not for a few things after perhaps 10 years showing the age. The huge cantilevered paper lightshade over the dining table and chairs was more hole than intact. It, too long curtains and most lamps needed throwing out. Our apartment had some thinning out of original furniture so was very spartan, but had the basics. Our large bed was comfortable to my surprise as it was raised in bed box above a visibly smaller double mattress. The spare bed I presumed. Bizarre. Newish basic lounge comfortable. The spacious bathroom had large vanity cupboard. Threadbare towels so small my husband held up what was the towel insisting it was surely another hand towel. It was a Bath towel. Laundry in cupboard great. Had dishwashing & laundry supplies, basic linens, loo rolls. Night before departure I needed to iron clothes and found iron not working because cord was frayed exposing wires. I took it to entry which hallelujah had young man on duty. He tried to obtain a spare iron but couldn’t manage it. This is the problem with the complex. Firstly they need a thorough attack on the vacation rental apartments to ascertain and fix and spruce up as required. We were foreigners but managed (without staff there to ask) to sort out IGA (via Underground City) for groceries, train and bus travel in Palais des Congres Metro and routes to Notre Dame, Vieux Montreal, Port etc., but saw no tourist books or maps in entry area. Or people usually. Confusion on name no help either. Bleury or Mille Neuf or 1009 or Oxford Apartments et al. Confusion reigned supreme and not just with us. There is some heavy building construction work in the immediate vicinity but frankly most of the Montreal CBD is undergoing this to provide much needed accommodation.

Its a building with few appartement to rent so it is not a hotel, which is ok. So less service, and no cleaning everyday which is also ok The flat is large, and very nice to live in. The bathroom is old and would need to be refreshed. The is a full kitchen and laundry machine I did not use. It is right next to the Palais de congrès so very convenient if you attend a conference. It is a 10 min walk to the old city or the Financial district
