“perfect location, excellent restaurant”
This is an older hotel, but it's well kept up and reasonably priced. Bonus: it's less than 2 blocks from the Cruz del Sur bus station. “Clean, friendly hotel in a great location!”
Tidy and quiet hotel steps away from Castro's central plaza. Older hotel, but well kept up with new installations (including great water pressure) and a lovely breakfast room. Next door to a supermarket and close to good restaurants and tourist information center. Free parking under hotel.

The Hotel Esmeralda is indeed only half a block from the plaza central, the cathedral,lots of restaurants, Cruz Verde (drugstore),and if you are pretty fit, you can walk to the palafitos. Stayed for 10 days and really enjoyed our stay . Opposite the beach and very close to Old Town so position was perfect . “Mediocre low cost hotel ”
Good as a transit hotel. It was tired/dated with lots of brown and beige decor but clean and functional. Staff were friendly. The central location meant it was great for seeing the church, markets and some of the palafitos but also meant the rooms were not the quietest.
