Strategic location because 10 minutes from Tiananmen Square and the forbidden city. Staff helpful even if almost nobody speaks English and this is worth a bit in all hotels in China. Large hall on the ground floor where there are also 2 restaurants (comfortable if you don't feel like going out in the evening), the breakfast room and a large tea room. On the first floor there is a fantastic jade shop! The hotel is in classic style and is well maintained, the rooms are clean and spacious. Two half-liter bottles of water are offered. Clean bathroom with bathtub and glass shower. Classic free toiletries. Present bathrobe and bedroom slippers. TV almost exclusively with Chinese channels. Panorama from the room nothing special. When you enter the hotel, you see a beautiful lobby and reception. You are delighted with the decor of the restaurant and shops. However, when you get to the room, the charm is gone. You see dirty walls, dirty carpet, poor decor from years ago. We booked a room that was supposed to be shaded, the so-called sunshade room. We thought we would get one that was on the north side and would not be directly exposed to the sun, but it turned out that we got a room with a view of the wall from the tennis court. No matter how you look at it, it was shaded as in the description :-( . The hotel service was good, breakfasts with a large selection of dishes and tasty. Clean bathrooms. Bed linen and towels changed every day. The swimming pool in the hotel is small, without additional attractions, you have to buy a hair cap if you do not have your own, because you are not allowed to swim without a cap. There are several restaurants in the hotel, but I do not recommend the Japanese one, because I think you can only eat sushi there. After reading the menu, we left. On the other hand, the Bavarian restaurant serves delicious food and drinks.

“Expected too much perhaps. Executive lobby was.....just get rid of it...”

location was nice, large restaurant on lobby floor. They have other restaurants in which you can eat outdoors. they have lots of facilities. easy to move around, staff spoke english. they gave fresh fruits every day, which was nice. the view was good from the hotel.

Rooms: Old, need refurbishent urgently Bathrooms: Not really clean. mold betweeen the tiles Breakfast:ok - but hardly any fruit All of this would be ok in 3- or 4-star hotel. But not in a 5-star property
