“Good hotel but far from the city center”

The Kuntai hotel is more used by locals then international guests. The location is a little bit far from the city centre. The rooms are excellent and also breakfast is fine. Only the bar is boring and not very lively.

Having read many of the reviews here I learned a few lessons True: internet is slow, and the password protected wifi does not help. Sending / receiving text is OK, but figures / photos is not really possible. Speedtest (@4 am) download 7.38 Mbps, upload 6.87 Mbps, Ping 32 ms. (connection with China Unicom) True: Ring 5 is at the side of the even rooms, but the double glass helps to keep the noise out True: air-conditioning keeps the temperature at 25 C, you cannot change the value in the room , despite best efforts (and it makes a lot of noise) True: there is a certain stale smell in the rooms, in particular in the bathroom True: I saw people smoking in the bar area True: nice (original) art on the wall Despite all the comments it is fair to say that this is a reasonable hotel with old grandeur with a very helpful service staff. We had a conference here which went fine without any glitches. Food is fine but certainly not exceptional

This is a soulless hotel that is not anywhere near 5* even by inflate Chinese standards. The rooms are spacious and reasonably comfortable but everything else is less impressive. This is a soulless hotel that is not anywhere near 5* even by inflate Chinese standards. The rooms are spacious and reasonably comfortable but everything else is less impressive. Shower is weak and wifi is slow and a pain to keep signing in to. If you are a foreigner you should know the level of English spoken is very very, very poor everywhere from check in to room service. I had to wait while room service found someone with enough English to take my order, and then the order was wrong (club sandwich and a beer, surly not that hard?). Bar and reception staff are bearly competent to deal with anything other than sign language. Check-in and check out is painfully slow. Don't plan a rushed exit to the airport! The bar is without merit and in the autumn it's cold, noisy and heartless (just noisy and heartless the rest of the year) In the times I have stayed there was always a conference group(s) in and this makes for lots of noise and not an atmosphere I'd associate with a high class hotel. I've tried this place twice to give it a fair shot but next time I'll find a hotel that's worth the inflated rates they charge.
