I stayed in the Oak for more than one year in total, and still am very happy with the service. The rooms are well equipped with everything from a washing machine to cooking knives to the mandatory rice cooker. Bathrooms are clean and high standard for China. Cleaning service is efficient and reacts flexible to customer being in the room. The reception speaks good English mostly and is well experienced with expat problems like getting stamps from the police. Also the common problem of reception staff not being trained with credit card machines and therefore failing to process payment ("your card does not work here") does not exist at the oak. The location is very central, close to the subway and many big employers. Only three downsides I found during my long stay: the internet (not just the wifi) is just bad, often loosing connection randomly, collapsing under too many customers downloading things etc. Also, the stoves are somewhat finicky and tend to malfunction, however oak's "engineering" department can normally get them back to action quickly. And lastly, fapiaos are sometimes a bit of a fight, especially when requesting a bit after the end of the stay. All in all, I would still gladly stay again at the OK though - a straight recommendation for business traveller's especially.

My work seconded me to Beijing for 3 months, having seen some awful places in Haidian, I managed to get a one bed serviced apartment on 20th floor. The apartment was spacious with just about everything provided i.e. cutlery, pots, pans, cooking utensils etc. This was not so in other places I had seen. Also dishwasher and washing machine and perhaps most importantly, the ability to control heat / air con from within the apartment. The building also has a small gym, also a bonus. I do not speak Chinese so it was a huge relief to be able to communicate with the staff at Oak Chateau. They were always patient, polite, friendly and most of all helpful in sorting out minor issues. For example, one evening a light bulb blew and tripped the electrical circuits, by the time I got back from reception (5 mins max), an engineer was waiting for me to inspect and fix the problem. Also reported an issue with the air con which was fixed less than 20 mins later. The reception team and the engineering team were excellent on their responsiveness and abilities to solve problems, thank you all! In early May, the apartment block organised a free day trip to Gubei Watertown. This was a lovely unexpected surprise and a wonderful day out. I'd like to thank Sunny, Tracy, Darwin (always cheerful), Janice, Chancy, Richard and last but not least Tim. They helped me so much during my wonderful 3 months at Oak Chateau. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Beijing. The 12 mins walk to Sanyuanqiao or 17 mins to Liangmaqiao subway stations is a bonus. Quicker if you have Mobike or Ofo. Sanyuanqiao is an airport express train stop aswell (20 mins to airport). Liangmaqiao is in the third embassy area and so has a number of places where western food can be bought / eaten. Sanyuanli Market is also close by. Tip: The breakfast might not be brilliant but do give L.A. Palms a go for lunch or dinner as the Korean Mexican fusion food is really something special!
