Excellent services and beautiful decor. The hotel is huge, with different sections including conference rooms, banquet rooms, restaurants, food street, and different activities like calligraphy, music etc. Health qigong exercise is free to guests. A great place to stay and experience Chinese culture. The sister hotel is a 5 minutes away by car which has medical facilities, acupuncture and massage. I understand a garden will be finished by year end based on the literature Dream of the Red Mansion. Also golf courses are nearby but I didn't go there. The buffet breakfast is extensive, both hot and cold. The hotel is located an hour by car from Beijing, a quiet area, great place to relax.

“Beautiful Facilities; Poor Services”

This place is in a business/industrial zone about 1.5 hours drive from Beijing. It is an immense conference facility + hotel + spa/recreation. This place is in a business/industrial zone about 1.5 hours drive from Beijing. It is an immense conference facility + hotel + spa/recreation. The hotel portion is a little over a year new, and is a beautiful combination of classy (as oppose to gaudy) traditional Chinese design and modern comfort. The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. Not only was there night light, but said night light was motion-sensor-ed, so it only turns on when you get up. There is a "smart" mirror that supposedly can tell you about your health based on your facial/tongue colors (I did not try as I found that a little creepy). There was, however, no sofa in the room, which is consistent with the traditional Chinese idea, but I did miss the comfort of a sofa. I also could not watch TV in bed, due to how the bed and TV were positioned.The indoor swimming pool was good sized (I am guessing 25 meters long). Sauna and steam room, however, operated on timer only, so it takes time to heat up. As with many Chinese establishments, the services were lacking. My check-in experience was terrible (could not find booking) . The hotel also does not allow phone calls to come in (you can only make outgoing calls but not receiving incoming calls)! There was a fridge, but nothing in it. There was no "bar" or wine glasses in the room, so to get some wine at night you had to buy a full bottle, then "borrow" the glass from the shop (which they record in your account and you have to bring back before check-out). The lobby level is not indicated in the elevators, and it is located on level 2 and not the instinctive level 1. My "Do Not Disturb" Sign was ignored and room service came in to clean room despite the fact I did not want them to. The fancy toilet with all kinds of spraying and cleaning jets did not flush well, and from time to time emanated foul odor. Finally, the dining experience was also unpleasant: the restaurant stopped order at 9pm, and when I went at 8:40, I had the waitress staring at me pressuring me to get the order in, while not able to offer explanation of what the dishes were (the descriptions were not clear). Regrettably I did not have the time to take advantage of the various cultural offerings that I passed going from lobby to room: calligraphy lessons, tea tasting, etc. They did look interesting.
