Great hotel, luxurious and centrally located. Traffic in Beijing is hectic , great to watch from the floor to ceiling windows. Breakfast was plentiful, with a great choice and evening meals we had in the bar/lounge area. Good selection and it had a lovely atmosphere. Concierge very helpful, recommended a local restaurant and accompanied us to make sure we found our way. Beijing was amazing, great 2 day tour and visit to Watertown made for an amazing eventful 5 days. China surprised me, people so friendly, polite, and so clean. Would return for sure, and to the hotel

I stayed in this hotel for 10 nights from end of June to early July 2026. I have been staying here since September 2009, and it is the only hotel in Beijing that I stay ever since. owing to the room setting, quiet and calm environment, I always have excellent sleep/rest in Regent Beijing. When I arrived at the hotel, it was like coming home as I was able to greet the many staff whom I know. Yina, the Captain of Concierge. was already there to assist me in the checking in. After entering the guest room, I found the familiar 'Home" environment. Everything was so tidy and clean, and the room setting remained as good as before. Bravo! I visited then some old friends in the hotel, such as Gary from the Executive Lounge and the Chef at the Cafe, Mr. Wang. Due to its central location, it was easy for me to visit interesting places, but I was only discouraged slightlyby the hot weather. It was easy to walk around slowly around the hotel, even to Tian An Men square, the Forbidden City, and other attractions. For shopping, Wang-Fu-Jing walking mall is merely 8 to 10 min. walk (I am an old man). However, I noticed that the crowd has thinned down, the walking mall is less crowded. Sad to see that my favourite Foreign Language Bookshop was no longer there. Fortunately, a good alternative Tsinghua Book Store is nearly, and I sp[end a lot of time browsing books. This was a farewell trip to many friends in Beijing as I am not sure whether I shall come back again due to my age, and hence weaker body. I was able to meet many friends, especially thos in Haidian District where the universities are located. I love Beijing when I first came here in 1992/93. It is a place with rich culture and history. I was fortunate to have witnessed the transition of Beijing from what it was to the current stage. The Chinese government has worked hard during these years. I sincerely hope that the improvement will continue to make Beijing an even better place to live. Caution: You need many days to see important places in Beijing alone. I took breakfast every day, and enjoy my meals every morning. The cooks and serving staff were very friendly and patient, they are also attentive to our requests. Their services were commendable. I also spent quite a bit of time at the Executive Lounge, sometime chatting with Gary, the gentlement in charge of the lounge. The guest room was well kept, the chambermaid was always ready to top up the amenities. The only little problem was the inability to watch my video files on my USB drive on the room television. The efficiency and attitude that make a staff to become "indispensable". not only to me, but to all the guests, must be mentioned. Ms Yina Wang, the Captain of Concierge, is always ready to help with BIG smile. She was a problem solver. Personally, I saw the number of guests going to her on problems of different kinds. One impressive aspect is her patience and attentiveness in understanding the issue, and offers solutions after that. I know her for more than 10 years. and she has never failed to impressed me. I sinerely hope that Regent would treasure her good contribution. Well, I left Regent on 6 July with a heavy heart, not being sure on my return. I would like to seize this opportunity to wish all my friends Good Health. Thank you for reading this long review.

Regent Beijing may not be the city’s newest or flashiest luxury hotel, but it understands something more useful: location, space, comfort and consistently good service. In a city where traffic can turn a short journey into a feature-length film, that combination matters. Dengshikou Station on Metro Line 5 is practically on the doorstep, while Wangfujing’s shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, historic hutongs and the central business districts are all relatively easy to reach by metro, taxi or a sufficiently determined walk. It is an excellent base for first-time visitors who want to see Beijing rather than spend the holiday studying it through a car window. Most importantly, it is also close to Da Dong restaurant personally when my craving for Peking duck becomes less of a preference and more of an emergency. My high-floor Regent Club room was impressively spacious, with fantastic city views, an extremely comfortable bed, effective blackout curtains and a large marble bathroom. Requesting a high floor is well worth it: Beijing looks particularly impressive from above, especially when you are observing the traffic rather than participating in it. The hotel has a reassuringly traditional five-star feel. It is polished rather than trendy, and dependable rather than desperate to appear fashionable. Service was consistently strong, with friendly staff and a helpful concierge team who made navigating the city considerably easier. The Club Lounge was the one area that did not quite match the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was good and pleasantly peaceful, but the selection could use more variety. That is partly the trade-off for avoiding the busier main restaurant: fewer people, but also fewer things to put on your plate. Evening drinks were perfectly acceptable, although the snacks were underwhelming in both variety and quality. The lounge currently excels more at tranquillity than gastronomy. Overall, Regent Beijing is a dependable, comfortable and extremely practical luxury hotel. Come for the location, spacious rooms, marble bathrooms, excellent beds, city views, and warm service. Just do not rely on the Club Lounge to provide the culinary highlight of your stay, fortunately, Da Dong is nearby.

The hotel has been communicative so far as we reached out beforehand about a potential upgrade given our diamond elite status. We chose the Regent over the Hyatt because our IHG status is slightly higher. While the hotel was not able to upgrade us to a suite they did provide the a room with a better view. The hotel let us know that they were experiencing a high volume of bookings so this may not be the hotel of choice if have a high IHG status (ours is the highest publicly available) and are hoping for an upgrade. I’ll update this review at the end of our stay.
