I booked a room on the Executive Floor. The room was meant to include access to the Executive Lounge offering beverages and cocktail hour, however, there was no Executive lounge. The room was large and spacious with a glimpse of the sea but it also had a very unpleasant, stuffy, stale odor. The bathroom was quite spacious with a bathtub and shower but there was sometimes a very unpleasant stench in the bathroom. Only one or two of the reception/hotel staff spoke English and this was very, very limited to basics. A couple of members of our group booked through reputable websites but the hotel had no knowledge of the bookings and made these people wait a long time to sort out the booking. The buffet offered quite a lot of Asian style food but closed punctually at 9pm. We had a group of approximately 30 people so by the time everyone had checked in, the buffet had closed. Fortunately, there is a 7/11 nearby and a good Italian restaurant. The breakfast buffet offered a vast range of predominantly Asian choices, but there were no cereals and the coffee machine was not working. The Fortune Hotel needs a good face lift and refurbishment. The rooms and facilities look very tired and in need of a good clean. While it was not expensive compared to hotels in Hong Kong or Shenzhen, it was not cheap either.

“Basic but clean”

Located close to port area and about 20mins from airport. Basic but clean and part of domestic chain. 2nd time staying here in a year; rooms could benefit from a refurbishment but perfectly serviceable. Breakfast ok but limited international selection.

“Good value, satisfactory rooms. Damp.”

There was a huge damp patch in the carpet in front of bathroom. I stayed 3 nights and it did not dry out during this time. 1 wall was damp and discoloured. A/C was good. There was a huge damp patch in the carpet in front of bathroom. I stayed 3 nights and it did not dry out during this time. 1 wall was damp and discoloured. A/C was good. New bottles of water everyday. An English language movie channel on TV. Breakfast is very Chinese, I recommend the noodle bar. Very tasty. Not much English spoken in reception. Luckily we had Chinese speaking students with us. Check in took a very long time. Location is close to ferry, there's a nice Italian restaurant just 2 minutes away.

“Average business hotel”

Only stayed a single night; room average and clean with aircon. Good location about 20 minutes from airport and close to Haicang Bridge. Not sure if it had a bar as didn't find it! Breakfast ok and free WiFi in lobby.

I stayed 3 night at this hotel. It's a typical Chinese hotel. Although the staff at the reception is very friendly, the English language seems to be hardly spoken. The hotel location is good actually. Nearby, i.e. a 10-15min walk or 5min taxi ride away ,there are some really good music bars at the bay park and in the proximity of the Marco Polo hotel some english pups. The hotel Fortune is inexpensive, therefore don't expect a high standard. It's just average.The WiFi was unreliable and hyper-slow. I wasn't able to retrieve any emails during my whole stay, a no go on a business trip. The kingsize bed was excellent, but the room cleanliness beginning from a dirty carpet to a hairy bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. If you love Chinese breakfast and don't have big pretensions you will surely be ok.
