I checked into the hotel last night (7 April), and my very first impression was the honesty and professionalism of the staff. After arriving in my room, I realised that my mobile phone was missing. I initially assumed I had left it in the taxi and went down to the reception to report the situation, in case the driver returned it. To my pleasant surprise, I was informed that the Security Manager, Tad Chen (I apologise if I have spelled his name incorrectly), had found the phone at the hotel entrance and handed it to the Duty Manager, Raymond. I was extremely relieved and truly grateful for their honesty and efficiency. Earlier today, I also needed to complete a form, but the website was entirely in Chinese. Henry Xie from the Front Desk was exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond to assist me, ensuring everything was completed smoothly despite the language barrier. Overall, I have found the staff to be consistently attentive, helpful, and willing to do their utmost to assist guests. I will be staying for another two days and am confident that the rest of my stay will be just as pleasant.

After an amazing 5 nights stay at Hilton Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, we checked into Doubletree Hilton Guangzhou based on an in-house recommendation and was quite disappointed with their failure to honour Hilton Honors Gold membership benefits of space available room upgrade. At the end, I offered to pay for the upgrade to an Executive Suite and magically space became available. I had made the request for an upgrade a week earlier on the HH app chat and was told there was no availability at all before paying for an upgrade using the HH app. I could not help but smile! Let’s move on to the hotel and the actual stay itself. The hotel decor in general is very dated and it shows inside/outside the room. The saving grace here is once again the staff, especially the housekeeping and executive lounge staff. I didn’t get their names but for team members in housekeeping (ie room 3808) and the executive lounge that were on duty between the 27-29th of April, great job ladies. You ladies are great assets to the Hilton brand/organisation and salvaged what was quite a low point of my stay history with the Hilton Group. The food and beverage selections at breakfast was plentiful but BOTH the quality and service was incomparable to your SEA and European sister properties. I moved to a SLH branded property on my last night in Guangzhou and the stark contrast was jaw dropping in terms of the team customer service ethos and indeed the quality of the property and f&b. I don’t want to be too critical of my favourite brand of hotels, but this property is completely lack lustre and sadly, I will not be back in a hurry.

We enjoyed our stay here with a toodler. The staff were helpful, but felt at times they were slow to respond and also their check-in process is extremely slow, so expect that. The suites don't have a kitchen , but they are spacious, nice and big. With lounge access you also get free breakfast, so I would recommend that, since they have a good spread but can get busy aftre 9 AM. There are ample restaurant across the street to try out as an alternative. Overall good experience staying here.
