A very authentic Japanese onsen themed hotel with high quality build and interior by a Japanese design team. A big site with a green garden and kids zone. Big ballroom for wedding or conference. In room experience is nice! Amenity is brilliant. Bathrobe is a beautifully made organic cotton one which is unusual for china. Balcony with outdoor bath and a generous seating area. The onsen is as good as japan’s with outdoor and indoor pools! Service is ok in general, you have to accept you are 2 hours drive away from Guangzhou!

Honestly, we had a great stay here this weekend….the property itself is beautiful and less than 2 years old, the food was better than I’d usually expect at these resort-ish places outside major Chinese cities, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the nice little patio we had as part of an upgraded room was good for some family time. There were some details that put this Khos / New World property a step above what you’d expect in these places - warm fresh bread at the poolside Western restaurant, good coffee packets in the room, and really well kept landscaping that seemed especially polished. It’s also a fairly convenient location to especially Guangzhou but also Shenzhen (sub 3 hours without traffic/accidents)…not far off a new expressway Shan-Zhan that seems to get relatively light traffic, and ~20km+ outside of Qingyuan itself. But beyond that - I kind of need to ask why on this property? Yes there is some hot springs there and I saw claims that this had been used for 2000+ years, and I guess that’s enough for many Chinese travelers. But at the same time - it’s not really a very obvious tourist destination…and unlike some of these other developer builds a hotel as part of a broader residential complex…there’s no obvious landscape features (eg, lake). And furthermore, there’s construction going on right next door (the New World complex itself + seemingly other unrelated buildings), which tends to limit the natural feel. The price is also on the higher side at at least over the summer 1500+ for weekend nights. So I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here for a splurge again in the future…I also wouldn’t really seek it out that quickly, and do wonder what this place will look like in a few years as the development around continues. One tip - we booked a “Vibrant Summer” package listed on their own website (which was a 100+ RMB better than Ctrip)…this included a poolside dinner set + breakfast. I was initially a bit perplexed at the dinner as the waiter instructed my wife and I together to order one main, but the portions would good…if you go by their menu prices it was a 600 RMB steak dinner for a room rate that wasn’t more than 200 more. We also booked a “courtyard” room, which meant a first floor space with an outdoor air and large soaking tub that seemed nicer than the upper floor balconies.
