This was a surprise for me. I have stayed in many Hiltons in Shenzhen and this was my third option, from what I wanted to be, but it had a tub in the room and that was the selling point, even though I never got in it sadly, but I am glad I went. The checkin was a little funny, because I can tell they rarely have non-Chinese speakers. Their English was not strong but we laughed and moved our way through it without any translator help I believe. The suite I had was very spacious, clean, with a full dining area, seating and floor to ceiling windows in both the common area and the bedroom, which just flooded it with light. (unless you wanted to close the nearly black out curtains) Room 1515 is now one of my favorites. The hotel is not far from Nantou Ancient City which is a great place to visit, but can get crowded but the charming surprise was that there is a huge flower market directly outside of the hotel, and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, fish, bird, clothing and jewelry stores to keep one busy for a very long afternoon. There is green space nearby and know there was a lake within there as well but I never went. The Lobby Lounge, where I rarely eat at, but I did have a burger and later some satay and bother were very good. The burger was a nice surprise and they listened to me about what I wanted to be removed from the burger. Thank you Sandy. She was the one at the Lobby Lounge and she was thoughtful and was making sure that she was clear on what I was saying. She had the best English of anyone in the hotel I spoke too. I wish the satay had a side of peanut sauce to help with the over all flavor, but they were good. One of the reasons to avoid Lobby Lounges is price and the drinks and the food were reasonable considering it was in a hotel lobby. The Lobby has an air of luxury and the massive fish tank outside was amazing, particularly at night when the lights and the water show was making the fish seem to change color. Breakfast was variety enough, but I was sad they only had plain and rather watery congee, but other than that the food was solid even if there was also limited bread for toasting. No loaves to cut your own slices from, and just white and wheat for toasting. I will be back and that is one way to know that the stay was good. So much of that has to do with the location tot he park and flower market, but the people were also kind and ready to help even if a little intimidated by the language barrier.
