What I loved about this hotel is that it caters to bigger Japanese clientele and with it comes the .... electronic bidet / wc!! Coming from a country where hygiene is synonym with washing with water, this is very important!! That aside, this hotel is located right smack in happening places. Massage places are walking distance. Dong Men shopping district is just opposite. Commercial road is also about 10 minutes walk away. Good location in every sense of words. Room that I had was smallish, but it's fine. They even have "refreshment room" near the lift, where you can relax and make tea. Small thing but showed how they care. If any dislike, it would be the cigarettes smell - the only bad habit of the citizens of this beautiful county - they smoke everywhere, even in enclosed areas. If only the government can enforced the non-smoking policy, they would be able to add a lot of money to their treasury from these indiscriminate smokers!

Stayed 2 nights in this hotel. It was our first time in Shenzhen and were truly impressed by the clean city with modern skyscrapers everywhere. Before our arrival, we heard so much negative comments about the city – such as ‘clingy’ touting, rude and unscrupulous salesperson but what we encountered was just the opposite. From the restaurant staff to the salesperson - they were all very nice and friendly. Their taxi fares charged accordingly by the meters, so we didn’t need to bargain with them. Our room was clean and spacious with nice modern furnishings. They even provided a coffee table and chairs where you and your partner can have your tea and snacks while watching TV – such luxury are mostly lacking at other hotels - other than one chair at the dressing table and one armchair near the standing lamp. The free Wi-Fi connection in our room was excellent. Our toilet was clean with modern amenities and they even provided an electric toilet bowl. It has many cleaning functions – seat warmer, water temp, pulsate, dryer, clean, deodorize and for ladies etc..! The hotel’s location is excellent – in the middle of the commercial and shopping district. The hotel’s name in Chinese is 深圳粤海酒店. But not many locals know the hotel as we had problems enquiring. Finally we got the exact location from an elderly security guard of another hotel. It was actually a 20-min walk from the Guomao MTR station. We needed to cross at least 2 busy streets to get to the hotel. And, we were only allowed to reach the opposite end of the streets via those high pedestrian bridges - as the entire road dividers are all fenced up. If you have a heavy luggage, it would be a problem because you need to lug up your baggage all the way up and down the pedestrian bridges. The escalators sometimes operate and sometimes they don’t (seemed they have certain timing). Around the hotel are eateries everywhere – from Dim-sums, Italian gelato palours, BBQ squids etc. or just a quick meal of fish/chicken with chips etc. And there are shops and more shops. Good to try out our bargaining skills. We bought several apparels, shoes and handbags at a good bargained price. I would recommend Yuen Kee Beef Balls Special Restaurant - 源记牛丸大王茶餐厅 - which is a 10-min walk from the hotel. (Check with the hotel staff for the exact location). Beside beef, they have a wide variety of seafood, chicken and pork dishes to go with rice or noodles. The place is air-conditioned and the food is palatable. Best is the price – they are reasonable. And we can choose ala carte or sets for 2, 3 or more which is cheaper. Our only discomfort is the smell of cigarette smoke drifting into our room especially at night. Although we had booked a non-smoking floor – (not sure if it came from the gaps in-between the door or the air-con unit) - we were affected by the smoke. We ended up coughing during our rest. However, we will visit Shenzhen again as 2 days weren’t enough to visit other places of interest.

On the ground floor there is a restaurant that offers buffet for each meal. There are also plenty of local places to eat should you not want to eat in the hotel. I will stay there again wen I return next year

“Decent Place to stay but I would not highly recommend it.”

I was staying here on a work trip so I did not book this place myself. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are decent. This is not the most "Westerner Friendly" (American) place. I was staying here on a work trip so I did not book this place myself. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are decent. This is not the most "Westerner Friendly" (American) place. The breakfast is mostly Asian cuisine and if you are anything like me, you will have a hard time eating around that smell. The hotel is fairly clean but the AC barely worked and the beds are not comfortable at all. The WiFi is sketch at best. The walls of this hotel are very thin apparently because I was on the 12th floor and could hear traffic all night as well as horns blowing and apparently there was a band playing somewhere close because I had to fight through the "Boom. Boom" all night as well. This place will keep you sheltered and safe but as far as comfortable, I would not stay here for comfort. I hate writing negative reviews but I call it like I see it and wouldn't want someone to get the wrong impression and stay here from one of my reviews. I would suggest staying somewhere better.
