It has this adorable little beach where you can take the most stunning photos. The pool is designed with these beautiful stones that give you the feeling of being at a peaceful lake or a luxury resort in Europe, rather than in a busy city. It’s "bien chido" and such a vibe! 🌴☀️ ​Tip: If you're not a fan of being outdoors, they also have a gorgeous indoor pool to keep you swimming in style. ​Foodie Heaven 🍕🥢 ​The dining here is top-notch! I love that you have so many options: ​Main Restaurant: You can order à la carte with everything from super tasty pizzas to authentic Asian dishes. ​Steakhouse: If you're craving a premium experience, there's an amazing third-party Steakhouse & Wine Bar on-site that is perfect for a fancy dinner. 🥩🍷 ​The Perfect Location 📍 ​It’s located in the OCT (Overseas Chinese Town) area, which is incredibly convenient: ​Super close to Futian (the business hub). ​Right next to Window of the World and Splendid China. I originally found this hotel looking for a property to use the free Ambassador night, and it turned into our favourite stay of the trip. Following some initial inquiries, Sunny had room upgrades confirmed and breakfast included in recognition of our status. Although we did not end up needing it, we were put in contact with the chief concierge in relation to our inquiries relating to transfers to and from the hotel. Dafne, guest relations manager, made contact the day before to confirm the arrangements for our stay and provided her Wechat and Whatsapp contacts for dedicated service throughout our stay. When we advised our updated early arrival time, she ensured that our rooms were ready on arrival. Actually we met Dafne in person at the dedicated desk for Platinum/Diamond Elite member for our check out and she is an exceptional representative for this property. On arrival, we were immediately served at the dedicated desk. The rooms were amazing in size and amenities, and the view over the beautiful property was great. The property is extensive. It has a massive pool that includes a beach, an indoor pool and spa, as well as a kids play water play area that was closed for winter. At first the included children’s playgrounds are ‘hidden’ behind the pay for Kids Utopia indoor play area, but there are three distinct areas (one inside and two outside) and a carousel ride that kept our 5 & 3 year old boys busy for almost an entire day. The breakfast is extensive with a wide variety of Asian and Western options. The most unusual feature was a juice bar where you select from the wide range fruit and vegetables and hand them in to get them turned into a unique juice. The hotel has a metro entrance right at the front which makes getting around very easy, and it is next to Splendid China (there is even a private entrance/exit) and is one stop from Windows of the World. This property definitely recognised our Platinum Elite and Ambassador status from first contact until after check out. It was the perfect relaxing break and we are aiming to be back sooner than originally expected.

This holiday was a birthday gift to my child whom turned 9 over the last weekend of January. The reason we picked Intercontinental Shenzhen was due to the Kids Club - Utopia plus its cute family room. We arrived in Shenzhen around 9.45pm and was surprised nobody came to help us with our luggages from our cab. Check-in was relatively fast. We lugged our luggages into our room. Our room was unfortunately not the best I expected from the Intercontinental brand. There was a faint smell in the room, a medicine strip left behind by previous occupier on the vanity area and hair on the shower wall. We moved to the family room for our 2nd night which was lovely. It was a much better room plus hygiene was tip top. However the daughter ended up with some insect bites which resulted her breaking into hives. And the husband ended up purging and vomitting the same night. By now my husband and I was ready to write off Intercontinental Shenzhen. But surprised surprised...the team rose up to the challenge to change our mind. Hospitality in China is not what you will get like in Thailand or Indonesia. But this team that addressed our concern is on par. So this review is a speacial shout out to Sami Ju, Reception Manager and Jason. These two individuals were determined to ensure the rest of our stay was comfortable. Sami came to our breakfast table to see how the little one was doing and suggested they drive us to the nearest hospital for treatment. Jason accompanied us to the hospital to ensure we are okay and acted as our translator to the medical team. My husband was extremely touch by Jason's care and concern through out the hospital trip. He had to do a blood test and had to wait for 30 mins for the test result. Plus the timing coincided with the Dr's lunch break which prolonged the wait. Jason offered to get him lunch, kept checking in with the medical team on the blood result status and even offer his blazer for my husband to ensure he stay warm. (Husband gave his jacket to the little one after she vomitted all over herself). The little one's treatment was fast and efficient. So I decided to head back to Intercontinental earlier with her, leaving the husband and Jason to wait for the blood result. Lo and behold, Sami was waiting for us at the lobby to help us send the vomit soiled outfit for laundry. We were thankful as we had ran out of clean clothes for the little one. The adventure did not here. The husband left one of his mobile phone behind, in our haste to check out. Jason sent it back to us immediately. We got the phone back the next day. So dear Mr. Tim Hooton, I want to say you have two gems and MVPs there in your team. Again, thank you to Sami and Jason for your exceptional hospitality. We will definitely return.
