Older property but facilities adequate. We had a couple of studios which did not face the sea but rooms were big clean and quiet. short walk to beach and pools. No lifts so not suitable for the less able bodied. Not an expensice property and value for the $$ we paid Good location right on golden sand beach. 2 spa pools with hot spring water. Great to soak in after days activities. Swimming pool warm. Reasonable Cantonese buffet breakfast. Had lunch at restaurant once and food adequate. Swam in sea most days. Bit cool but OK given time of year. Great seafood restaurant on next property to East which had a series of dining villas with 4 large tables in each villa. Great service and food here. Pick your own live seafood from tanks. Not expensive by Western standards but more expensive than say Panyu in Guangzhou. Good 20 minute walk along seaside board walk to Sheraton to East. Public beach with beach BBQ and some eateries to West about 5 minutes walk along boardwalk Property about 15-20 minutes from city. Quiet location. Did not use public transport. Seemed to be regular flow of taxis in the area. We did order a taxi to the airport without any difficulty thru reception. Were fortunate enough to be able to rent a car. Dined in at couple of the many outdoor restaurants back near city. Mandarin language skills very useful here

If you wish to enjoy contrasts, this is the place! My family spent 3 nights in this beach/hot spring set-up in late December. Both our rooms had balconies overlooking the beach. One was about 100 m away from the beach, overlooking the swimming pools while the other was less than 50 m away from the surf. If you wish to experience the full force of the sea breeze choose a room adjoining the beach. I had never stayed in a room which was so gusty! The moment I opened the balcony door the wind whoosed into the room lifting curtains like they were pieces of tissue. It was quite an experience, bringing a whole new reference to what wind chill factor meant! The star feature of this place was the hot water which was pumped up from a natural underground volcanic spring into a hot water pool. It was an exercise of faith, getting into one’s swimming costume and walking into the blustery, howling winter sea gusts but once one got into the hot water pool it was bliss. The water was quite hot but did not smell sulphuric. Having the winter chill on one’s face while the lower body was heated up was strangely therapeutic. No wonder there were guests soaking up the heat, late into the night. The small bar/restaurant was open 24 hours and we could get nice cold Tsingtao beer to the hot pool even when it was midnight. We didn’t have enough courage to get out of the hot pool and swim in the adjacent cold water pool though some brave people did. The down side to the place was that the decor and rooms were dated and clearly needed refurbishment. Breakfast was basic. Because the gusts were so strong in the room next to the beach, there were bits of sand on the bedding. If one is looking for international 5-star spa accommodation with gym, professional massage, international restaurants etc, this place is not up to par. There really wasn’t much else to see or experience besides the hot spring soak, the fresh sea gusts, the surf and the sand. If one is looking for nature’s contrast in modest accommodation, savoured the Chinese way, this may well be the place.
