From the moment you enter the entrance to this hotel you feel put back in time. In a time for "Master and Servants" This is ment to be positive. But a lot of hotels have lost the magic and has become a place to sleep. The doormen, the staff in generel are so polite and they makes you feel very well treated. This is service on a level high level. Rooms are fine (and some has ocean view), the bed is hard (as in Asia) and the selection of food in the restaurants is very fine. This hotel have a lot of soul, charme and an atmosphare of good classic style. An older hotel which can use some small re-fits - But this is also a part of the charme

“Used to be great”

The hotel clearly shows that it was a fabulous hotel in the last 10/15 years however the time has passed and refurbish is required from the rooms to the gym, furthermore the lack of proper English speaking staff is not very good and must definitely be improved.

This was an older hotel but do not let that deter you fro staying here. Attentive staff, comfortable rooms and a foyer that could just about accommodate a football game. This was an older hotel but do not let that deter you fro staying here. Attentive staff, comfortable rooms and a foyer that could just about accommodate a football game. An old hotel in a district that has a long history and that is evident by the nearby buildings - some seriously beautiful examples of a variety of a colonial architectures and magnificent gardens as those westerners stationed here tried to replicate home. Great views of the ocean and a fabulous morning walk along the foreshore. I found it a bit of a walk to a good restaurant - but I was travelling blind so maybe I missed good restaurants a bit closer. And for the Aussies - Bob Hawke stayed here!!

Stayed at the GGH monthlong. The siting of the hotel is marvelous. Very close the beach and very suitable for early morning and evening walks. Also very close to an array of bars and eating places. Stayed at the GGH monthlong. The siting of the hotel is marvelous. Very close the beach and very suitable for early morning and evening walks. Also very close to an array of bars and eating places. Just behind is the famous Yantai hill with a lighthouse. Very lovely site to have a panoramic view of Yantai. The hotel rooms are very clean. The bathroom both have a shower and a bathtub which are kept clean. I loved the room heater in form of intense lighting and also the magnified mirror for my clear view of shaving experience. The room also have the clothes pressing facilities which I found very convenient. The staff are very helpful, respectful and supportive to make ones stay comfortable. I will not forget the special notes and specially prepared Yantai apple from the personalized host. Actually the staff surprised me with a cake gift on my Golden Jubilee birthday at the Golden Gulf. No sooner had I entered the hotel lobby at 23hrs than I was reminded that it was my birthday. To which I was surprised as to how they knew my birthday. Anyhow we enjoyed the Celebration into the early morning. Last but not the least, I always enjoyed the breakfast. Had a variety of Chinese and western cuisines. I simply enjoyed my monthlong stay at Golden Gulf Hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to come again in the near future.
