Stayed in Liston for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant stay. Nice low-level hotel inside Thames Town. Pros: - Comfortable beds (Firm enough for me) - No smell of smoke inside the non-smoking room - Safe inside the room - Good shower water pressure - Massage chair inside one of our rooms (but need wechat debit account to use it) - Polite and helpful (chinese-speaking) receptionist Cons: - Wifi needs constantly logging in each time we step out - Corridor area of our non-smoking level has the smell of smoke - Swimming pool is located in another building (They would provide free voucher) - Service crew switched off the lights sharp at 10am (bf end-time) in the restaurant even though we were still dining inside.

“Average hotel, clean and quiet”

Stayed here for three nights. Quiet hotel and very clean. For Chinese hotels a little more dated. The New Century hotel is more luxurious in the same district. English is OK. Stayed here for three nights. Quiet hotel and very clean. For Chinese hotels a little more dated. The New Century hotel is more luxurious in the same district. English is OK. The restaurant works with IPADs so you can choose by pictures. Explaination is not possible, the people in the restaurant have very bad English. The food was pretty nice though. Location to the Thames centre is 5-10 minutes on foot. Be sure to have RMB's if you want to eat in that area, they only accept the local credit cards from Chinese banks. There is a money machine on the right side of the big square. Due to the more international character, I would prefer the New Century hotel, but this is also not bad.

This hotel is located in Thames Town, an extraordinary area that quite accurately mimics a London suburb! We stayed in this hotel to attend my brother's wedding. As it caters mostly to Chinese guests, the staff have limited English (better than our Chinese) so a little patience is required when checking in and out and ordering a taxi. The rooms are very well-furnished and comfortable, and the two restaurants serve very good food. The one thing that is lacking, at least from a European perspective, is a bar to sit in in the evening. This is not necessarily an area that one would visit as a tourist, but it is handy for the new Botanic Gardens and is a greener, more suburban area than the busy city of Shanghai.

This hotel is located in "Thames Town", a subdivision of Songjiang, itself a suburb of Shanghai. We were there for a wedding so it was an obliged choice. The hotel is not handy for visiting Shanghai, as it's not even near a metro station and taxis need to be called to go just about anywhere. Both the hotel and Thames Town are built in mock-British style. To a Western European this is a rather amusing experience - there is a statue of Harry Potter, an artificial island called Skye, and a canal called "River Thames". In the hotel, conference rooms are called with names like "Nottingham Hall". The target clientele is clearly only Chinese and the staff speak very little English, some of them even having difficulty understanding basic hotel concepts such as "is there a restaurant in this hotel" (there is, and it's also quite good, but we were told there wasn't one on the first night). Apart from this, the hotel is very comfortable, with bright and spacious clean rooms, good linen and free if erratic wireless internet. Beds are very hard - again Chinese-style. The standard of cleanliness is not as high in the common areas, unfortunately. We paid RMB500 per room per night, although that might have been a package price for the wedding, but at that price it was very good value. If you are English it is a fascinating cultural experience to see your country through the lens of a Chinese resort interpretation. But in any case the area is very pleasant to stroll in, with very little traffic and lots of actual grass. The Songjiang area has many interesting sights, including a brand new and amazing botanic garden. All in all I would recommend this hotel if you want or have to stay in Sonjiang - not as a base for visiting Shanghai due to its location.
