This hotel enjoys an excellent rating by visitors, but not fully justified. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The design is tasteful, and modern, but not very practical. The tiles become slippery once wet. The breakfast is Chinese only, with tasteful strong Sichuan food for your early morning stomach. One can feel that the management is not the most professional, relying on trend and fashion, rather good for young Chinese girls.

“Not For Group Tours”

Stayed for 3 nights. Actual name is Kangsun hotel and there is another smaller (older) hotel of the same name just few blocks away. Under the same management. Room is ok. No complaints. Breakfast spread is limited. Location is great. The food district is just on the next road. Within walking distance to chunli street. This hotel is not suitable for group tours as the road leading to the hotel is narrow and with illegal parking on both sides of the road, it is hard for tour bus to pass through. We have to walk to the main road to board our tour bus and on the last day, have to drag along our big luggage out to the main road.

Stayed for five days during September 2014 in the twin room. My booking was in the new building and apparently newly refurbished. The room itself was quite nice and the beds were comfortable. Free WIFI is included along with standard hotel amenities. The fridge that was provided was unfortunately not working, but that was the least of my concerns. The bathroom was where the flaws were at. The shower screen door seemed to be poorly designed, so water managed to sneak out and flood the bathroom floor. Furthermore I noticed a slight sewer-water smell creeping out from the sink. Mind you, as soon as I contacted reception, they were happy to change rooms for me, so kudos to them. Unfortunately the second room still had that shower screen and flooding problem. During my time there I tried both breakfast and dinner options. Breakfast served mainly Chinese cuisine, with only bread, butter and jam the Western options. Variety-wise the food stayed the same for the five days I was there. As for dinner, both the food and price was reasonable. A lot of spicy dishes as you would expect and they were cooked very well. The only complaint I had were that a few of the staff seemed to always get my order wrong. I only spoke in Mandarin throughout my stay so I cannot comment on their English. Location-wise it is very well placed, next to the Mianjiang River, so morning strolls are recommended! Otherwise Chunxi Road is a short walk away for all your shopping and eating needs.

The lobby is nice and has a somewhat old feel to it ... kinda classy. Sometimes there will be a doorman to open the door for you, but often not. The staff doesn't speak English so have your Chinese ready. There is a lonesome bartender on the first floor lounge who can serve you a glass of wine or warm beer unless you specify you like it cold. There is a banquet room on the first floor that is often being used by various groups and adds a bit of excitement to the ambiance. The rooms, unfortunately, are not nearly as kept up as the lobby or hallways. I stayed in two different rooms on different nights. The walls are badly stained and the bathrooms are just clean enough. The furniture and carpet are very worn. There is no internet access in the rooms. Although they provide an ethernet cable, the connection is inoperable. You will have to go to the first floor to get online or you can fork over some money to use the computer in the business room during business hours. The beds are fairly comfortable. They do provide a complimentary buffet breakfast. You can find this on the third floor. Grab the cleanest wet plate you can find and help yourself to a spread of inexplicably cold hot food. Nobody seems to bother minding the buffet line and making sure the chaffing dishes remain hot. There is little love or care put into the bland food. Find yourself the cleanest dirty spot on linen that has not been changed from last night, set down your food, and help yourself to either a glass of milk or orange flavored water. There is no tea or coffee available, but you may find some left over pastries from last night's banquet. The saving grace of the buffet is the cooking station where they will prepare for you fried eggs from a griddle. The hotel was fairly cheap compared to others so I didn't mind the shabbiness of the rooms too much. I liked the location. Overall it wasn't a bad deal.
