Just returned from Chengdu and had a great night's stay at JW Marriott. I asked if I could have a room with a view when I checked in and was given a room on the top floor (29). Nice to be right at the top. Maria at check in was friendly and helpful and notice I was a member so gave me late check out which was perfect. The room was nice and spacious and airy. My only gripe was I couldn't find the switch to turn off the ambient light in the bathroom and the extractor fan was constantly on in the background. Eventually I managed to fall asleep and had a very comfortable rest. I paid extra for the executive lounge access and it was great for me to grab a bite to eat on arrival and then to dash off to explore the city in the evening. They had a range of dishes to sample and a noodle station. Just be mindful that some of the dishes are a bit spicy. I popped back later for a quick drink and also grabbed a juice the next day before I left. The breakfast was decent. I went early because I wanted to go and see the pandas. It would have been nice to have someone on hand to offer tea or coffee on arrival, you had to grab one yourself from the automated machines and one of them was out of water. Also there was no one to ask for alternative milk. There was a congee station and the seafood congee was really tasty. I didn't try the noodles as I couldn't stomach something spicy that early. There was a decent selection on offer, Western and Chinese options but I would have liked an egg station, to offer different eggs to order. Maybe I was there too early (around 6.50am) but still from a hotel like the JW Marriott I would have expected eggs to order. I've had a better breakfast from the JW Marriott in Macau. I tried the gym and pool. The gym had a decent selection of machines and weights and mats and foam rollers. The pool was a decent size and a nice temperature. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were all fine. Please note though you will need a swimming cap to use the pool, they sell them at the spa desk. The hotel is in a good location for visiting Chengdu. There is a mall a few mins walk away with all the bubble tea shops on hand. For visiting the main sites they were all around 10 mins by taxi and the panda research centre is around 30 mins away. I would not hesitate to stay again at the hotel. I had a great and memorable time in Chengdu.

I stayed at the JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu and wanted to share a balanced review based on my experience. Positives: - Service in the downstairs breakfast area was good overall, particularly later in the service when it became very attentive. However, it wasn’t entirely consistent. - The turndown service was excellent, with a thoughtful touch of chocolates placed by the bed. Housekeeping was friendly and maintained a high standard of cleanliness throughout the stay. - The overall quality of the stay was good and aligned with what I expect from Marriott. We were given an incredible suite which was truly fulfilling of the expectations of a suite night award. Areas for improvement: - Ideally would have been someone at the entrance to assist with luggage - Breakfast service could be elevated with more proactive attention, such as staff offering coffee upon seating and taking orders (e.g. eggs) directly at the table. Overall, a very good stay with strong fundamentals, but some gaps in service that, if addressed, would better reflect the premium standard expected of a JW Marriott.

“Right in the heart of downtown”

This is a hotel right in the heart of Chengdu - right next to tianfu square, with easy and convenient access to the metro station of the same name. The check in process was efficient and smooth (on the eighth floor), and our room was spacious, with plenty of amenities. They have a gym on the tenth floor which was well equipped, which required prior registration before going inside - although the staff manning the counter can be a bit stern at times. I didn’t have breakfast included in the room rate so I cannot comment on their breakfast. All in all I had a good stay there and would recommend it / love to return again one day.
