I truly enjoyed my stay. Spacious and clean rooms to start with. The bathroom has my favorite two-sink setup so leaving in a pinch is very easy. The bed is 2.1m wide, the mattress soft enough for me without losing support, but there weren't enough memory foam pillows to go around. The wide and comfy bed made it almost like home for sleeps. During winters or cooler days the bathroom's floor heating makes shower and the cleaning routine a joy in itself. I didn't have enough luggage to make good use of the renowned butler service. The only use I liked and used frequently is the daily coffee and tea services.

“Outstanding Service by Concierge Xu Lin at St. Regis Chengdu”

I stayed at St. Regis Chengdu for a week during my visit in early January for a New Year trip. I booked the stay through Virtuoso, which came with benefits such as hotel credit. I used the credit at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, and the food was good. It's definitely a nice perk of the stay. One small downside was that we did not receive a room upgrade. However, given that it was peak season, this was understandable and not a major issue for me. In general, most of the staff do not speak English fluently, which made communication a bit challenging at times. That said, despite the language barrier, I could still feel their friendliness and willingness to help, and overall the service was decent. What truly stood out during my stay, and what I want to highlight the most, was the exceptional help from a concierge named Xu Lin. Xu Lin assisted me tremendously with a complicated Taobao refund that I was struggling with. The process involved multiple issues and lasted several days, yet he consistently went far beyond what would normally be expected of him. Xu Lin was born in South Africa, so we were able to communicate very well in English. He directly contacted the pickup driver on my behalf and handled all the coordination. Even on his days off, he continued to stay in touch with me via chat to make sure everything was progressing smoothly. Thanks to his dedication and persistence, I was ultimately able to successfully refund items worth nearly USD 700, which was an incredible relief. I want to give my highest praise and heartfelt gratitude to Xu Lin. Without his help, my experience in Chengdu honestly would not have been as positive and would have fallen quite flat. He truly made a difference in my stay. Please extend my greetings and thanks to Xu Lin. I sincerely hope to stay at St. Regis Chengdu again on my next visit.

I’d like to start by saying a big thank you to the team for preparing such a lovely pre-birthday room setup for me. The room looked absolutely adorable, and it really made my stay feel special. The hotel is not far from the city center—about a 10–15 minute walk—so it’s quite convenient. The design is elegant in the classic St. Regis style, and the room itself felt very spacious compared to my past stays at The St. Regis Bangkok. While a few small details felt slightly aged, it was very minimal and didn’t affect the overall experience at all. Also I love the Pandas!!! The staff were incredibly kind from the moment I checked in. There was also a Thai intern named Sira who helped take care of me, as many Thai guests stay here. She was truly lovely and acted as a helpful bridge in communicating my requests to the Butler team—especially when I asked for help preparing a bubble bath. That thoughtful service made a big difference. For dining, I tried Social for breakfast, which is a buffet with a good variety of options. However, compared to The St. Regis Bangkok, I’d say the Bangkok breakfast is much better. I also had dinner at Yan Ting—unfortunately the duck was sold out that night, but everything I did try was delicious, and the portions were surprisingly generous. As for The St. Regis Bar, it wasn’t crowded when I visited. The drink made by the bartender was excellent. I only wish I hadn’t gone alone—otherwise I would’ve happily stayed much longer. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and felt it was absolutely worth the price.

I booked this hotel through Amex FHR for the added benefits. I know Google reviews are not accessible in China, but I still wanted future travelers to be aware of my experience. The stay was not terrible, but it also was not impressive. Through FHR, I received a room upgrade to a corner room with large windows on two sides, which made the space feel bright and more open. My brother also booked through FHR, but his room was not upgraded at all, which surprised us. We attempted early check in, but no rooms were available. We were eventually notified via WeChat around 2:40 pm that our rooms were ready. One thing worth noting is the pricing. When I originally booked, the rates were quite high. I paid $221 per night, but when I checked again about two weeks before arrival, the same room was selling for $118 per night. Seeing the price drop by nearly half made the value feel even more questionable. The St. Regis brand is known for prestige, but this location in Chengdu did not quite live up to that reputation. The price point made sense once we saw the condition of the rooms. While the staff were polite, the rooms were clearly dated. Our bathroom especially needed a refresh. The grout was yellowed and black in places, there were cracks throughout, and the shower fixtures were falling apart. One night, the shower would not fully turn off and kept dripping. On top of that, the pillows were awful. They offered no support, and even stacking them did not help. My neck hurt badly for two nights. Very few staff members spoke English, which I understand since most of their guests are local Chinese travelers. That said, visitors should be prepared for a lot of noise and disorder throughout the hotel. There were frequent loud confrontations and children running around unsupervised. It is unfortunate, because China could be an incredible destination for tourists, but the lack of basic courtesy and order really detracts from the experience. With the FHR benefit, we were given a $100 credit, or ¥700 at the time of our visit. This credit could only be used at their buffet restaurant called Social, or toward laundry, limo service, or the spa. The terms stated no accumulations, which was confusing. My understanding was that if the buffet cost $55 per person, my husband and I could fully use the credit. However, my brother stayed alone, so he could only use $55 and lost the remaining value. That was disappointing, especially since other FHR hotels we have stayed at never imposed this kind of restriction. Would I stay here again? Probably not. I honestly do not think this hotel belongs in the FHR program.
