We booked four rooms here for our group of students and had an enjoyable stay. After checking in though, we found that none of our rooms were made up so were shifted to another floor. Most rooms and corridors smelled of smoke. Nice clean and modern bathrooms, comfortable beds. Great variety of food available for breakfast which was much appreciated by our teenagers. Maritime Silk Road Museum is just next door and the hotel is right on the beach. Pool was clean and warm and the gardens were beautifully kept.

I spent the week-end here in November 2014 with some relatives. We booked a big family suite which had 2 double bed and a couch in the main room and a king size bed in the bedroom. huge balcony facing the ocean with a jacuzzi tub. I think November is a very low season because there were nobody around. Temperature was nice though, around 27C during the day 20C at night. The hotel is a bit hard to find as the area is still under development, but once you get there the views are beautiful. The beach was clean, but the water not so much. The hotel is big but like I said maybe it is because I was there during low season a lot of the facilities were either closed or half open like the main restaurant. The food was ok. However considering the very cheap price, I really can't complain. I also visited the newer Crown Plaza not far from the Days Hotel and it was much nicer... but more expensive too. The area does not really have much else to do other then the beach and the museum next door. It's basically just a nice place to relax.

“Great location, food not so great”

So the location right on the beach is quite nice and the rooms are clean, sizeable and well kept. Good value in that department. The breakfast buffet is 90% Chinese and the remaining 10% is barely passable. Staff is friendly but English is hard to come by on this island in general.

We stayed at the Days Inn for a long weekend. After arriving at Dajiao Bay it took a little time to get direction to Days Inn which is located away from the Main Street and Beach up and over the main hill towards the Silk Road Maritime Museum. Check in was the usual drama with minimal English spoken by the staff so the hotel struggled to find our booking (always check if the booking was made in your Christian name). We had paid for 2 rooms with sea views and the first room was brilliant. Room 858 on the 8th floor near the lift (which I Hate) offered a large room with the bed facing the balcony and sea. The balcony had a separate bath which seemed weird? The A/C was hit and miss but the king size bed was large and comfortable. The 2nd room 632 on the 6th floor had a sea view but was not as well arranged. The A/C again did not function that well at night. The pool although clean does appear greenish and it's difficult to get service at anytime during our stay. Although the hotel advertised a gym and roof top bar neither where open even though the hotel had been open for 18 months. Breakfast is average and typically Chinese. Get down early before the bus brigade arrive and eat like a horde of locust devouring everything in sight. The position of the hotel is good with direct access to the beach but signs stipulate not to swim in the sea. The beach is littered with rubbish a sad state for such a lovely beach. The hotel is located next to the Silk Road Maritime Museum but the location to town requires a car ride or good walk to reach restaurants and the main stripe of Dajiao as we found little entertainment in the hotel at night. Based upon the price paid (HKD$1600/room per night) it does seem quite expensive. We suggest booking directly if you can as the standard room rate for a Sea View Room is HKD$1450/night. Alternately the new Crowne Plaza hotel will open in August 2013 maybe try this.

Currently, probably the newest hotel in town. Nice and big , great sea view location and managed by Days Inn. Claims to be a Chinese 5 star hotel but carries the Days Inn brand. Rooms are huge, beds are comfortable but building quality is not great as certain finishings are already showing their wear within such a short time. Service is so so. Don't think staff are adequately trained. Breakfast is very mediocre. The pool looks nice and big but does not seem to be properly maintain either - water is greenish. A word of advice, please make sure you don't lose your room access cards. They charge rmb 30 for every missing card - apparently cost of replacement is huge. Seems to be a thing with Chinese owned hotels. A Crowne Plaza is coming up just down the road. Hopefully that will some competition soon. Rates for this place during high season is as expensive as international 5 star hotel in Guangzhou e.g. Grand Hyatt.
