My wife and I stayed here as we traveled some about this area of Yunnan. We have to say that this place far exceeded our expectations!! Had we known what we would find here we would have stayed several more days, but alas our plans did not allow. First the not so great: the Inn in on an alleyway accessable only by foot. You will be challenged to find the Inn using either google or maps, have the hotel arrange a driver to get you from the train station or airport - avoid driving if at all possible. The alleyway has steep steps that you can't reasonably avoid. The Inn is NOT handicap friendly, it has many steps up and down, high doorsills, etc, at night the owner locks the front door and you cannot get in or out without waking him - which can affect your departure on a day tour. And though it is on the edge of ancient town its on the other side of the hill so you have to climb then descend to go in either direction. Now the great stuff: the host is extraordinary, he is university educated and speaks fluent english, he is very willing to help and was very helpful during the 4 days we stayed there. The Inn is very tastefully decorated and recently renovated. We found only minor quibbles with the room that were easily corrected. The bed was very comfortable, the shower had plenty of well regulated hot water, the room temperature was easily regulated, the decor was very pleasing, the linens were in fine shape and soft, the room was quiet, slippers were provided as was daily bottled water, the breakfast was included and all we could eat. And the price was quite agreeable. We visited several hotels traveling around Yunnan and I can't tell you how HAPPY we were to return to this one!!! There is a well stocked convenience store next door downhill, and on the other side of that is a good place to eat. We stayed on a ground floor room. We were able to use the washer there to clean our clothes, and a clothesline is there to handle laundry for multiple guests concurrently. We both recommend this place highly, particularly for american/european travellers. You will be very hard pressed to find an equal or better deal nearly anywhere you travel.

“Lovely boutique hotel in a very good location”

A lovely little hotel. Rooms are all unique and the staff are so helpful and happily make tea and chat. Breakfast is traditional Chinese, and includes fresh fruit. A lovely little hotel. Rooms are all unique and the staff are so helpful and happily make tea and chat. Breakfast is traditional Chinese, and includes fresh fruit. Access to the hotel is up stone stairs and a short walk up a steep street and cars cannot access too close so there's a short walk along a street. Some rooms are noisy, but it does quieten down overnight. .

The hotel is located close to Lijiang old town. It's near the main road, no need to carry your luggage in the old town area which is cannot access by the car. The hotel is located close to Lijiang old town. It's near the main road, no need to carry your luggage in the old town area which is cannot access by the car. It take 10 minutes walk to Lijiang old town. Host is very kind and speak english very well. He help to arrange the tour and airport pick up shuttle for us. The decoration in Chinese style. We can feel like stay at our friend house. There is fruit basket and tea provided in common area. Room is pretty good. It's large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is Chinese sytle. It's very good.

The "Yue Tu House" is a small boutique hotel located on the periphery of the "ancient" (but not so much) village. We stayed there for 5 days in May and it is well-located to walk the nearby village. The owners speak good English and the property was immaculately clean. The facilities are very modern and well kept. The shower was nice and hot and we loved the rainwater shower head. The hotel is non-smoking (yeay). A small breakfast was included with Chinese pastries, fruit and coffee or local tea. That was a nice touch! Also, there is an excellent Yunnan restaurant located just 50 meters to the south....I don't remember the name but it was excellent and even catered to my vegetarian wife.
