A great little hotel. Rooms are beautifully designed and fit out. Great location also, walkable to the lake. Service very nice also. Shout out to staff members Vicky, Gavin and Tom. Things I did not like: the relentless American video playing in the elevator; the dangerous eye level door lift storage. Main gripe: the website says bicycles are available however I was told none were: “big repair for long time”. Fortunately one of the staff helped me rent one on the street with Alipay. Hilton - this is on you. Get it off the website or get the bikes fixed. Suggestion: a drinks menu in English.

Having stayed at a rather underwhelming hotel the night before, I arrived with absolutely no expectations. However, what I experienced was nothing short of a revelation. From the moment I stepped in, it was clear that this hotel was designed with the modern young professional lifestyle in mind. The entrance itself was striking—an imposing orange door that slid open effortlessly, almost like a scene from Open Sesame. Inside, the walls were adorned with Hangzhou-inspired artwork meticulously arranged in warm orange hues, creating a refined yet inviting atmosphere. The service was impeccable. I am particularly grateful to the gentleman who assisted me in English—his professionalism and attentiveness made a lasting impression. Upon learning it was my first stay at a Canopy Hotel, he warmly welcomed me with a thoughtful gift and provided a comprehensive introduction to the property. His guidance significantly enhanced my understanding and appreciation of the hotel, elevating my overall experience. The design of the lobby was truly impressive, but what awaited me in my room was beyond my expectations. I stayed in the Canopy Deluxe Room with Balcony, which featured a private jacuzzi—an absolute highlight. The open ceiling added an extra layer of relaxation, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience. The room’s design seamlessly blended aesthetics with functionality, embodying a lifestyle-centric approach that resonated deeply with me. One memorable moment was when I attempted to order fruit from Hema Fresh, only to realize that registration required a Chinese phone number. Thankfully, the hotel staff went above and beyond to assist me, ensuring I could enjoy fresh fruit while unwinding in the jacuzzi. Given how exhausted I was from long nights of work and little sleep, this small act of kindness made all the difference, allowing me to recharge in the most comfortable way possible.

5 night stay Upside: (1) Location - 10 minute walk to West Lake and downtown. 10 minute walk to nearest metro station (Ding'an Road, Line 1). Many modest restaurants, cafes, shops and services nearby. I booked a rate that didn't include breakfast, but had no issues getting breakfast each morning in the surrounding area (2) Room - Comfortable and fresh design, with good soundproofing. Was not disturbed by the club next door (3) Gym - Adequate for a hotel gym, with new and well maintained equipment. While small and windowless, good air-conditioning meant that it wasn't stuffy (4) Staff were helpful with arranging laundry and changing money into small bills/coins for the bus (need to use exact cash or AliPay app) Downside: (1) Style vs substance - First time I've stayed at Canopy, which seems to be Hilton's boutique/trendy brand. Maybe I'm getting too old, but I found the corridors and common areas too dark. There were fancy panels for turning lights on/off, but this meant that bathroom light switches were grouped with other switches by the entry door, several feet away from the bathroom entrance. Bar staff seemed confused between the "Welcome Drink" and daily cocktail hour (as informed by front desk)

First Canopy stay & pleasantly surprised with the staff attentiveness & service. Tucked off the main streets yet close enough walking to the West Lake & other usual tourist go-to. Room was upgraded with quipped modernity & perfect evening tub soak winding down the day. Breakfast was equally generous with handcrafted Lavazza coffee of choice & local Hangzhou noodles can be ordered. Only drawback is lacking vantage high floor view.
