Our family of 10 stayed at Edgewater for 3 days. We arrived at Edgewater at 3 am, so part of the first day was spent recovering. Rooms were very good, food was tasty and very generous serves. I don't eat a large amount of food. I ordered a toasted sandwich from the Light meals option. The very generous sized sandwich arrived with a lot of chips ! There were a number of sport options - I think tennis, volleyball, other games with bats and nets. The pool was full of boisterous children having a great time. There was equipment available for water activities. Staff were charming, helpful, and ready for a chat. So much work had gone into the lush gardens, and the gardens were populated by very colourful poultry - handsome roosters. It rained each day we were there - warm rain. The outdoor eating area had large thatched areas that kept us dry. The wait staff wore ponchos, bare feet and took orders on ipads. The reason why I gave Edgewater a score of 3 was because of the dogs that hung around the eating erea. Some were dogs as big as a Labrador and they stood around the tables waiting to be fed. There were also small children walking around in the same area as the dogs. I know there are people who live, sleep, eat with dogs, but dogs should not be in areas where food is served in public. At least if a Hotel or Cafe advertise that they are "Dog Friendly", we have the opportunity to avoid them. I have been required to do a food handling course, and unless the rules were recently changed, animals were to be excluded from areas where food is prepared and served. I understand that different countries have different standards of public health.

We were in a garden room. It was quite noisy with noise from the swimming pool area, and also from the special event area. There was a wedding while we were there, the music started at 10 am and eventually stopped at 10:30pm. There was live music most nights, which would have been great if again, it was quieter. The loud repetitive beat was very intrusive, and not at all relaxing. The staff were generally friendly, especially the restaurant staff. I would not stay here again, but it was reasonably priced.

Location- The best rooms are the beach view for views and peace from roosters. Apparently better snorkelling on other side of island but water is clear and beautiful everywhere. Atmosphere - family resort. Cleanliness - rooms good but Beach sweepers sweep but don't clean the beach - we found brown and green broken glass early morning after sweepers. Noise level- Quiet and relaxing ocean waves to sleep. Rooms - basic but good bed and shower and clean. Hot water was hit and miss but mostly good. Food and service - underwhelming - Restaurant staff take ages to serve you or not at all cause they are too busy feeding stray cats or doing something else. Breakfast highly processed - cereals, muffins although lots of fruit. No proteins. Other Meals below average - taste and freshness wise. Amenities- Limited adult activities, water sports eg no SUP’s. Value - for $ - low. Would I stay again? No.
