This is an amazing property and we had a fantastic time. It’s definitely not a budget hotel, but when we were booking it was comparable to other places in Rarotonga, and for all of the benefits noted below, we felt Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas was worth it. The villa was a massive duplex, two bedrooms, full kitchen, two balconies (top floor and bottom), and you’re provided with more than you could possibly ever use: utensils, dishes/plates, espresso machine, coffee, tin foil, saran wrap, washing machine, dryer, BBQ, etc., etc., etc. Communication was easy, the arranged taxi and welcome staff were so nice, and the daily cleaning crew were all amazing and friendly. Breakfasts were very generous, more than I thought they would give. You may not like everything as the menu varies each day, but we were given more than enough for the 5 days we were there. The pound cake on arrival was our favourite. And there’s a convenience store a short walk down the road that’s open 24 hours a day (although the prices are a bit high). The pool was beautiful, although it was cold (which was strange since it was so hot outside, maybe it was due to the strong wind). But they also have a great hot tub which we used extensively. Super location, within walking distance of a convenience store and a few good places to eat. It is right next door to where they do tours, which is convenient if you want a tour, but note that at certain times of the day they have loud drumming as part of a boat tour (about 10am and noon) and occasionally the tour staff were yelling and laughing very loudly, so you may not be able to sleep in or completely relax by the pool at these times. The beachfront suite is convenient for access to the beach and the pool, but even the non-beachfront suites are sufficiently close enough to the beach and pool. Having a bathtub was great in the evenings.

Our villa had everything that we needed for our week. The villa itself is incredible! The modern beach styling and large decks on two levels made for a relaxing retreat to listen to the waves lap up in the lagoon. The breakfasts were plentiful and the appliances and outdoor grill were clean and newer. The loungers around the pool and the spa tub made for lazy afternoons when we weren’t exploring the area. The villas are a short walk from the Muri Night Market and have easy access to the local bus. I want to specifically mention the services team that brought us our daily breakfasts and serviced our villa daily. They were friendly, courteous, and made for a wonderful week in Rarotonga. I highly recommend including the Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas in your next vacation to the Cook Islands.

“Stop looking! This is your South Pacific dream!”

This place is outstanding. We arrived at midnight, and we could still see the varied colors of blue in the water by moonlight. The service, food, views, and accommodations were fantastic. Firstly, if you come to Raro, you simply must stay on the Muri Lagoon. Other parts of the island are lovely, but this location is the South Pacific dream you fantasize about. And it has the small motus to really complete the view, that the rest of Raro lacks. Secondly, choose the beachfront villas. These villas are some of the only truly beachfront properties on the Muri Lagoon. Other places have a pool or restaurant in between you and the beach. At Crystal Blue, your deck is on the beach itself. Thirdly, the breakfasts are varied and outstanding. We had everything from a classic English breakfast, to fresh warm croissants and pastries, to papaya with yogurt and granola. All were delicious. Fourthly, you must snorkel. Right off the back deck, you can swim with the sea turtles in incredibly clear water. They hang out beside you without care. Also tons of colorful fish and coral to be seen. I find it extremely difficult to believe that the other pricier accommodations can beat Crystal Blue at all. It’s a world class treat!
