I stayed at Vila Babilon with a friend for a week. It is ideally located for those wishing to get into Dubrovnik easily but have the peace of a small village. Situated close to the water, the view from Our room was lovely and we had easy access to several beaches of varying size. The apartment we had was spacious and offered us the opportunity to cook meals for ourselves when we did not fancy eating out. Upon our arrival, the pool was slightly dirty following heavy rainstorms but the owners cleaned it when we mentioned this and it was a great place to sunbathe and have a dip. On our last day, the owners were exceptionally accommodating to the fact that our flights did not leave until quite a bit later than check out and allowed us to have use of the pool for as long as we wanted. Such hospitality was greatly appreciated, especially given how hot it was that day. My only negative view was that for the majority of the day, there were no staff around. This wasn’t problematic as we did not need them and they responded to the only e Mail we sent when we had a question but if you are looking to have someone on site 24/7, this is something to be aware of. All in all, a great little place, with kind and friendly owners.

“Hooks needed”

Villa Babilon was in general a nice place to stay, very nice and friendly staff! One thing we missed badly was some hooks to hang our towels or clothes, now they were everywhere and that was not nice. But this was the only thing we missed, all the other things were good.

I use Google Map frequently and almost always with good result. But here is a prime example of how it can be seriously misleading. Assume that you approach Zaton, which is north of Dubrovnik, from the north (e.g. Split). As you enter Zaton, Google directs you to leave the main coastal road (Jadranska Magistrala) and make a sharp left turn into Bulet road. This is a winding, narrow road that has you praying you will not meet another car. But after several kilometers you end up back on the main coastal road--after a dangerous right turn. And there it is: Hotel Babilon! Just take a very close look at the route Google Maps suggests and you will realize the futility, and danger, of getting into Bulet road. I was told that the hotel has tried to fix this with Google, but to no avail. Otherwise, the hotel is a decent, no-frills hotel with cheerful staff. Breakfast is a bit sparce, but adequate as a start of the day. Their cappuccino is good. It's good to have password protection of WiFi, but the signal strength is not great.
