We stayed at the Boathotel Matylda in Prague for one night prior to boarding a river cruise. We found the Boathotel to be a great experience, with the hotel providing everything needed for a comfortable stay. The Boathotel is actually two boats moored together, the Matylda has rooms below and a restaurant above with the other boat, the Klotylda, having accommodation and reception. There is also a floating pontoon type terrace moored in between the two boats, with tables served by the Matylda restaurant at bar, with views over the river Vltava. Our room, room 1, on the Matylda, had tea and coffee facilities, a television, an en-suite with a powerful shower with toiletries and towels and storage space for luggage. The room was not air conditioned but had two opening windows with fly screens, giving us a good view of the river. The hotel is perfectly located along the river front, more or less in between the old and the new parts of the city. The famous Charles bridge is a short walk away, likewise other tourist sights are close by, accessed either on foot or via the excellent tram service that the city has. There is a tram stop immediately outside of the hotel, which serves the number 17 service taking you towards the Charles bridge, then over the river or, in the other direction, straight into the city. We booked for an evening meal in the Matylda restaurant, which has an Italian flavour. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced as were the drinks prices considering the prime location of the hotel. I would recommend booking the restaurant in advance as it did seem to be very busy. I believe that the restaurant and the pontoon terrace are open to non-residents. The staff gave us great service throughout our stay, also storing our luggage before we could embark our cruise ship. I am very pleased I found and booked this hotel. We had excellent service, a good, relaxing afternoon and evening, a super meal and it gave us the chance to explore Prague the following day, much more than would otherwise have been possible. Many thanks to the staff on the Boathotel Matylda for looking after us so well. I would definitely recommend the Boathotel Matylda and restaurant to anyone travelling to and wanting to stay in Prague.

“Good price for a pleasant botel experience”

Reasonably priced hotel right in the heart of Prague. A nice cheap form of alternative accomodation - lovely to wake up and look out right onto the river as Prague starts to awaken! Reasonably priced hotel right in the heart of Prague. A nice cheap form of alternative accomodation - lovely to wake up and look out right onto the river as Prague starts to awaken! There is a restaurant which we didn't get to try but he menu looked delicious and varied. Staff were polite, television and coffee provided in rooms and the bed was comfy!

We stayed at the botel and honestly, we had a really nice time overall. Everything was very clean and the staff were kind and welcoming from the first moment. Check in was super fast because we had done the online check in beforehand, which made it all smooth and easy. We had an executive room and it was really spacious - the bathroom was big, perfectly clean and I especially loved the lighting around the mirror, it was actually good light, not the usual dark hotel lighting. The bed was large, which was great, but for us the mattress was just too soft…we both prefer something firmer, so we didn’t sleep very well. But that’s such a personal thing, someone else might absolutely love it. We had a river view. We also received a voucher mentioning a view of Prague Castle. You can see Prague Castle…but only if you really press yourself against the window. Otherwise, the main thing you see is the bridge above the boat hotel. It wasn’t bad, just not quite what we expected. Another thing we didn’t love was the noise. The walls (and even the doors) feel really thin so you can hear almost everything. People talking in the hallway, doors closing, movement around… it’s all quite noticeable. If you’re a light sleeper, this might be something to keep in mind. We appreciated that the reception is open late into the evening. That always feels reassuring. Dinner though was the highlight. The restaurant staff were lovely and the gentleman who served us made the whole evening special just by the way he treated us. We felt genuinely comfortable and taken care of. He helped my partner choose a wine and even though I’m not much of a wine drinker I had a glass of white and it was honestly really good. The food was excellent. I had the mussels and they were amazing. Breakfast was lighter and served à la carte. We were welcomed right away by a young Vietnamese boy who was incredibly kind and pleasant. We would definitely come back for the food. For accommodation probably not because of the mattress, but the dining experience alone is absolutely worth returning for.
