“Spectacular setting”

We had a very enjoyable 4-nights in this fabulous,historic building. High ceilings and windows in a very spacious room made for a very comfortable stay. Good shower room and separate entrance/wardrobe area. 5 minute walk from the Karlovo metro station. Tram 18 passes right in front of the hotel for Charles Bridge/Old town etc. Bars and restaurants very close to the hotel. Breakfast was your average continental. We had a problem with ants in the room that was dealt with but not sure if this is ongoing? Would stay again never the less.

“Saintly named hotel in Prague”

Stayed in October on business. Hotel is accessed by a gate and up a staircase from street level. There is no lift or accessible route for anyone with a disability. The reception is spacious and I was met by a very friendly receptionist, Lenka, who was really helpful. As I was travelling alone, I had been allocated a single room and it had only a single bed. The room was a little spartan, but perfectly clean. The bathroom also very clean, and a really powerful shower with plentiful hot water. The safe was unusable as it is too small to hold much, not even an iPad would fit in it. Breakfast is continental style, the room is downstairs and a little cramped and dark. The room had no air conditioning and the room was quite warm, opening the window was not really an option, due to the room gaining the road. The road is quite busy, with cars and trams. Also note the bins get collected at 5.30am! The setting next to the church is great, and it is a short walk to the tram, or you can walk into the centre of the city in about 20 minutes - beware the cobbles, especially in the wet. This hotel was booked for me by a client whom I was visiting for work. Summing up nice building, close to city centre, lacks some amenities and not somewhere for anyone with a disability. Staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel is perfectly located in walking distance of the old center. It is part of an old monastery. The hotel entrance can be reached by a staircase ( no elevator) . It is not a very representative entrance ( no sign, no light, not very clean),. Once at the top of the staircase there is a nice garden and a neat reception.The rooms are spacious, but not very cozy. There is no air conditioner. Although the rooms and bedding were clean, the pillow didn't smell fresh. The breakfast room is downstairs in a small room and the atmosphere is somewhat stuffy. Summarizing: the hotel is okay for one or two night, but don't expect any coziness

Every time I went to Prague I always stayed in Smichov, but this time the hotel I always stayed was out of place. As I wanted to stay in Praha 5, I booked the U Svatého Jana Hotel. Very close to the metro station Karlovo Namesty in Vysehradská. It's next to a church, I even thought the building was part of the church. I stayed in room 3, overlooking the street, the monastery the front, trans lines passing in the door! I was very impressed by the location. It may be that the only fault of the hotel, or of this particular room, is the lack of air conditioning, because the temperature in Prague in May was very high, and even leaving the windows open, the fresh air did not enter, not counting that innumerable Insects invaded the room when the window was open. However, I found an incredible stay, a yummy breakfast and a delicate gift left by the staff for my birthday that I spent at the hotel convinced me that this is a great place to stay in Prague. I recommend it and would go back there, for sure.
