Hotel Cucuve was wonderful! Ana greeted us and was so kind and friendly. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We were on the second floor and had a lovely balcony and no issues with noise. Every amenity you can imagine! Loved the nightly chocolates! They have a terrace down the street facing the ocean. We went there nightly for cocktails and pelican watching! Highly recommend! We had an early departure and they provided boxed breakfast the night before that was greatly appreciated!!!

“Fabulous place”

We really enjoyed our time here and everyone’s hospitality. This is one of my favorite hotels! They accommodate you beyond belief and truly go above and beyond. Everything was so clean, and every staff member we encountered was fabulous. We will definitely be back!

Despite the name, it’s really a boutique-style mini hotel with just seven rooms: three on the second (main) floor with the lobby/front desk, and four on the third floor, where the breakfast area and potable water station are located. The hotel also manages a nearby waterfront Airbnb next to the Bahia Mar restaurant. Cucuve Suites is modern, fresh, and very well maintained. Service is attentive, and the overall experience feels polished. The rooms are comparable to what you’d find at a newer Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn & Suites—arguably with larger bathrooms and a better included breakfast. Everything still feels clean and almost new, even though the hotel is about seven years old. Each room includes a spacious balcony with plenty of room to dry wet gear. While it’s very close to the waterfront, none of the rooms actually have water views, which is a bit disappointing. That said, guests do have access to a private, open-air waterfront lounge next to the Bahia Mar restaurant, which helps make up for it. The location is convenient: on Binford Street, about half a block from Charles Darwin Avenue and roughly three blocks from Baltra Avenue. A great cluster of casual street restaurants—where I ended up eating several times—is located near the Binford/Baltra intersection. There are also two laundries right next door offering wash-and-fold service for about $1 per kilogram; I used one and was very satisfied. Similar options are easy to find throughout Puerto Ayora. Drawbacks No hotel is perfect, and Cucuve has a few downsides: • Value for money: While the hotel is consistently clean, safe, and comfortable—with strong air conditioning and English-speaking staff—it is relatively expensive. During my five-day stay in Puerto Ayora (in March, which is low season), I noticed several comparable boutique hotels that were similarly nice, sometimes better located (including water views), and more affordable. In hindsight, I would have booked Cucuve initially, then rechecked availability elsewhere before the 30-day cancellation window closed. I likely could have found similar accommodations for around $125 per night. • Sound insulation: The room doors are attractive but don’t block noise well. The hotel provides earplugs, which helps. Rooms on the third floor open directly into the breakfast area, which can get noisy early in the morning—something to consider when choosing a room. • No elevator or bell service: Guests should be prepared to carry luggage up two flights of stairs. • Bathroom ventilation: There’s no exhaust fan; only a window, which lets in warm, humid air. • Amenities: Toilet paper is provided, but tissues are not. • Wi-Fi: Reliable for general use, but I needed to be near the lobby or breakfast area for stable WhatsApp calls. • Payment: Credit cards are not accepted; I had to pay via PayPal. Overall Puerto Ayora is a lively and enjoyable destination, and Cucuve Suites is a comfortable, well-run base for exploring it. While it may not be the best value in every season, it offers a clean, modern stay with solid service in a convenient location.

A small budget boutique hotel , which was a pleasant stay . The greeting at reception was very nice and they accommodate our early check in The rooms are spacious and clean , no faults there. The little attention to detail was a nice touch , the water bottle and bags and little chocolates and letter . Breakfast ok , very basic , was offered scrambled or fried eggs. However long wait for toaster if there are other guests getting breakfast at the same time . The balcony is not at the hotel , so never got to use it. Good location for shops, restaurants . Don’t expect much of a view , can be very noisy in the evening if you don’t have on the air con. Would I recommend this, yes it’s perfect for a short stay in Santa Cruz
