What a wonderful 4 days I had at El Tunco staying at the Eco Del Mar! I was in a top floor bungalow and they are immaculate, spacious, and have everything you could need. The showers are hot and the AC is cold. WiFi worked perfect. Stunning views from the top floor. The grounds are lush gardens with a small, but relaxing pool that I used daily. The staff is very friendly & the breakfasts each morning are cooked to order. The location is perfect as it is just a little walkway to the beach. Like 1 minute walk. It’s also right across from bars, stores & restaurants. It’s right on the main road in Tunco. I will definitely be returning!

“Fantastic Small Hotel with everything nearby”

We stayed here from March 28 2025 to March 31 2025. We were lucky enough to have the 2 rooms on the main floor. We arrived around 11:00 pm due to a later flight. Our rooms were obviously ready. They were very clean and we were very happy at how big they were. It had all amenities needed, small fridge, sink, microwave, toaster oven. The breakfast in the morning was very good . The staff here were fantastic. Very helpful and friendly. The owner was in contact with us via email which was appreciated. He responded to us immediately when we had a question. The landscape of the hotel was very beautiful and scenic. We loved the little pool and the vibe of the hotel. It was near everything and you didnt have to walk far to get anything. We stayed in El Salvador for 9 days and at 4 different hotels and this was our favorite. We are planning to return and will book this hotel again! Thanks again for a great day!

Its a good family hotel and also for friends, it is close to the beach clubs so you will hear music at night.

“Good stay at popular beach”

I stayed here in January. This small motel is more comfortable than the surrounding hostels, and was priced a little lower compared to the hotels of the area. The location is excellent, only a 2min walk down the alley to the beach boardwalk, or a 4 min walk down the boulevard to the trendy restaurant hub. So close to this lively area, yet tucked away in a quiet alley. The manager was very friendly and monitored the small site at night to ensure that all who entered were guests. Good working A/C and Wi-Fi. Good breakfast. The double private room had a kitchenette with a breakfast bar and an old mini fridge that worked OK. It was very clean - no ants or pests in the kitchen area. The bathroom was small, but slightly bigger than many of the places I stayed in El Salvador. The water pressure for the toilet and rainfall showerhead was weaksauce, but there was plenty of hot water, at least. There was also a window for ventilation. I booked the double room for me and my friend. The first bed was an oversized full bed, but the second bed was a kid's "bed" - a small single mattress laid directly on the floor. We were not very happy with that. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable enough, but the pillows were too high and overstuffed. The beds had clean sheets, but no blankets. It's only an issue if you're with someone who likes to blast the A/C all night. The second floor acces is via a rickety, small, wooden spiral staircase. A few steps are uneven. Bringing luggage up and down can be challenging if you have big and/or heavy bags. The balcony overlooked the small pool, and had a table, a chair, and a clean hammock. The balcony access is from the area at the top of the staircase, but the balcony was situated directly in front of the window of my room, so no one else used it. The other balconies were along the upstairs hall in front of the rooms. The pool area is surrounded by tropical plants and is beautifully illuminated at night. During the day, the pool looks a little grungy because the bottom is stained, but the water was clean, chlorinated, and tended daily. The grass is very prickly so wear shoes to the pool. There were no closets or tables in the room. The small breakfast bar was the only counter space. There was a set of shelves in front of one bed by the wall shared with the balcony. There was no storage for the guest near the other bed. However, the entry area behind the door was large, so guests could lay a suitcase flat and open it there.. It's a little hard to find the entrance to this place, especially in the dark. It is located off a small alley from the main Boulevard through town. The alley is a one-way, dead end lane, so once you turn into it, you cannot turn around. You have to back out carefully. Eco hotel does have a dirt parking lot, directly to your left as soon as you enter the alley, but it is chained, so it's best to park on the main street, and then walk into the alley, and turn left at the small opening in the foliage just past the parking lot where you'll see a tiny path that leads to the reception area. The manager will open the parking lot for you. Only CASH is accepted here (up front) for check in, which I was not prepared for, but the manager told me I could pay in the morning. There are 3 or 4 ATM machines off the main street a few blocks down. *Be prepared as not all ATM's work with foreign bank cards. Only 2 thin bath towels were provided, and after sopping up the water from an accidental spill, I asked for a clean towel. Ihad to go back up to get the wet towel in order to make an exchange for a clean one. It wasn't a big deal, but it would've been nice to have had an extra towel to wrap my wet hair in after a shower. Small TV with about 2 local channels. We hardly ever watch TV, but I'd rather have had a table occupy that space. All things considered, it was a pretty good deal for a popular beach destination during an expensive season (New Year's). The stay was comfortable and far superior to a hostile stay.
