“Winter city break”

Hotel was exactly what we needed for location and comfort. Room 5 was small but very comfortable, breakfast was good value. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was excellent for an evening meal. Excellent location for public transport and the old town

The location was excellent in the old town and within walking distance of all the sights. When we arrived it was not obvious where the reception was and we saw someone from the restaurant who 'vaguely ' checked us in saying we should have received an email from them, we didn't as we booked through a travel agent. Our room was on an upper floor and there are no lifts. There was a long walk after the stairs to get to our room but thankfully the man who checked us in carried both of our cases all the way. We didn't communicate with anyone else from the hotel until we asked them to book us a taxi for the airport to return home. We stayed 4 nights and the room was very nice, in the attic, and quiet. No one told us about breakfast. The breakfast was ok.

“Excellent location”

Good location and for our surprise the noise from the street didn't bother us. It's quite cozy as you can see from the photos. Unfortunately the breakfast wasn't the best so there for "only" four stars. Still I could recommend it.

The only positive about Cru Hotel is the location, which is excellent. Unfortunately, everything else fell well short of expectations. Breakfast was cold, extremely limited, and basic – nowhere near what you would expect from a hotel claiming five-star status. The room itself (Room 3) was tired, poorly maintained, and frankly filthy. Loose plug fittings, curtains hanging off the rail, doors covered in grime, every wall marked, and windows screwed shut. We were a family of three staying four nights and were provided with just four hangers – completely inadequate. Noise was unbearable. We heard every single movement from the room above – taps running, footsteps, and what genuinely sounded like furniture being dragged around. Outside noise made sleep almost impossible: loud music from bars and a busker late into the night, followed by the bin lorry at 5am. It honestly felt like sleeping outdoors. There are no staff on site to ask questions or raise complaints. Everything is digital access, which was temperamental at best. Communication was minimal and unhelpful. Other guests were far more helpful than the hotel itself. Even breakfast service was unwelcoming. This hotel absolutely does not warrant a five-star rating and is massively overpriced for what you get. Our Christmas stay was meant to be a special treat and had been booked nearly a year in advance – we were gutted. The whole experience felt like Chinese torture. If you’re a recluse who doesn’t sleep and enjoys constant noise, you might love it. Otherwise, don’t waste your money. I would never recommend this hotel
