Great stay. Super friendly and helpful staff. Coffee in the lobby is just what I needed. They were great helping to arrange our baggage transfer. Very comfortable bed and well-appointed room.

“Not as family-friendly as we expected”

We are a family of four from Denmark travelling through France on a four-week road trip. We stayed at Héliopic Hotel & Spa for two nights and used it as our base for visiting Aiguille du Midi (Mont Blanc) and Mer de Glace. The location simply couldn’t be better. The hotel is literally next door to the Aiguille du Midi cable car, making it incredibly convenient if you’re planning to visit Mont Blanc. We couldn’t have chosen a better location. The overall standard of the hotel is very high. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and we appreciated the free coffee and orange juice available in the lobby. Our apartment was spacious and very well equipped with a full kitchen, including an oven, microwave, pots and pans, as well as a washing machine. The only thing missing was somewhere to hang wet clothes to dry. The swimming pool itself and area around it was excellent. On our full day at the hotel we had it completely to ourselves, which felt like pure luxury. However, we found the opening hours and restrictions for children difficult to understand. The pool doesn’t open until 10 a.m., and children are only allowed until 2 p.m. Because of this, we couldn’t use the pool on our arrival day, and it was also impossible on our departure day because check-out is at 11 a.m. Since the pool was almost empty, even during peak season, we couldn’t understand why these restrictions were necessary. It would have made a big difference to our stay if families had been given more flexibility. One thing also left us confused. During the room introduction, we were shown a fantastic suspended net loft over the dining area and told that our children were very welcome to use it. However, after the staff left, we noticed a sign stating that, for safety reasons, the net must not be used. Receiving two completely opposite messages about the same feature was confusing and should be clarified. Finally, our toilet became blocked despite completely normal use, which unfortunately affected an otherwise very pleasant stay. Overall, this is a beautiful hotel with an outstanding location and a very high standard. If the family facilities and communication were more consistent, it would easily deserve five stars. We would still happily recommend it to anyone visiting Chamonix, especially if your main goal is to explore Mont Blanc.
