Found site eventually after all Satnavs got confused. It would help for site to add directions to their Website. Staff were very helpful after a confusing time locating pitch due to presence of old numbers!! Nicely wooded site with pitches randomly amongst the trees. Toilet block excellent. Good Motorhome driveover facility for grey water and fresh water tap. Nicely located for trip to Puy de Dôme.

“Good Stopover”

We are a family of 4 and used this site for a 2 night stopover whilst travelling further south for the better weather. We are a family of 4 and used this site for a 2 night stopover whilst travelling further south for the better weather. The site - lovely forest location, secluded and sheltered pitches with lots of shade. The pitches were clean and very well maintained and of a good size. There was a lack of water points on the site in our opinion, could do with a few more and as mentioned by other visitors it you use electricity points make sure you have a long cable as the points can be some distance from your pitch. The pool is small but this is only a small site, it is clean and was perfect for our children. There are also table tennis, tennis courts and a small play area near to the pool which are free to use and equipment is supplied by the site which is a nice touch. The restaurant and bar are really nice, food good although limited choice. We found that the pizzas were superb. The only issue we had was the journey to the site through Royat, we followed the site instructions as the signage to the site is not frequent enough, despite the warnings our satnav took us through and back route of narrow bridges, tight roads and really steep inclines, we struggles to manoeuvre through this area towing a touring caravan, do not fall into this trap, take note the warnings and advice from other travellers. I think the site should distributed more specific instructions including more road names and recognisable buildings perhaps (e.g. Inter Marche on the left) to help you get there and avoid the narrow route. Area - we only left the site to visit the Puy Du Dome which is a good half day trip out to the top on a volcano. There is free parking and it cost a family of 4 around €38 for return tickets on the train to the top. It is worth the trip with spectacular panoramic views. Overall, we would stay at this site again and will look to book onto other Huttopia sites in the future based on this experience.

“Good but not great”

Our chalet wasn't well cleaned when we arrived. We decided not to complain and do it ourselves. Cleaning after is charged 90 euro's, so it should be clean. Bar prices are really high, and the people working behind the bar inexpierienced. They hold glasses on the top of the glass, not done! activ… more

Our chalet wasn't well cleaned when we arrived. We decided not to complain and do it ourselves. Cleaning after is charged 90 euro's, so it should be clean. Bar prices are really high, and the people working behind the bar inexpierienced. They hold glasses on the top of the glass, not done! activities fort kids are allright, based on nature so we loved them. Pool is way too small for the campsite, too crowded and shallow. Pizza's at the bar are black on the bottom, foodtruxk on tuesday is really nice. We enjoyed our stay, but it had some remarks.

We stayed at the Huttopia Royat for 1 night as part of our 18 night, 12 campsite tour of France. Being one of the most expensive stops on our tour I was expecting excellent facilities, it was twice as expensive for a nights stop compared to most of our camping locations. This is largely due to the large booking fee of 20 Euros that is added at the last minute when you go through the process. The facilities were clean and thankfully very close to our motorhome pitch as sadly we experience a torrential thunderstorm during our stay. As mentioned in other reviews I feel there is a lack of water facilities considering the size of the site. The pitch was large enough nestled in amongst the trees - which took some manoeuvring in our 7.5m long motorhome :) I can't comment on the other facilities - such the pool, because by the time we arrived in the afternoon the weather was poor and we left early the following morning. In hindsight an Aire would have been a much better option, especially considering the hidden costs of Huttopia sites, our booking went from 48 to 68 euros for a single nights stay.
