We had a lovely stay at the Grand Hotel in Valloire. We are a couple and traveled with our friends who are also a couple for a weeks skiing, half board booked through Crystal Ski. This hotel has everything you need, the location is perfect with everything such as ski lift, slopes and shops a short walk. The staff a very friendly, kind and extremely helpful with a lot of them either being family members. The hotel is not modern but it is traditional in a lovely old building, it is spotless everywhere with a lovely central fireplace which is lite a 7pm each night, there's a cozy sun room which I'd imagine is beautiful in the summer but just as nice in the winter months being able to look out on the falling snow. The food is phenomenal, I don't think I have ever eaten such wonderful tasting and presented food. One of our party is gluten intolerant and they were extremely accommodating, the staff knew what he could and couldn't eat and would either provide the same dish simply without the gluten or suggest an alternative. There are individual lockers for your ski equipment with a communal heated boot rack if you want but this is all locked over night and only accessed by hotel guests so still feels secure. If you're looking for new and modern this is not it but in fact better, being traditional, 5 generations of family run, clean, centrally located, friendly, accommodating and homely. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to return in the summer on year. Food and drinks Amazing! 4 courses with an aperitif to start, (so more like 5) the beef fillet was so tender and my favourite meal. If you're not keen on the set menu there are 3 alternatives to choose from for each course which stays the same each day. You can also choose the skip a course. Bar snacks were often supplied with our drinks as well. Walkability One of the main lifts is over the road and a very short, easy walk, the lupins blue run back to resort also ends here so the same walk to get back at the end of the day. The walk to the main shops, restaurants and bars is about 100m on the flat. The lift pass office is in the centre of the Main Street and a 5 min walk from the hotel. Rooms The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage options, beds are very comfortable with spare pillows and blankets. A separate toilet to the shower room, the shower is quite small but hot and powerful with a heater towel rail. Lovely warm rooms, nice views and handy plug sockets and a shelf at the head of the bed.

A nice traditional hotel right in the center of the station, nice welcome, good equipments, and a well above average breakfast. My room was somewhat old fashioned but clean and with comfortable bedding. Congratulations to the staff who takes a lot off precautions (more than most places) with Covid.… more

“What a nice place to stay for a family holiday”

My family stayed at the hotel for a skiing holiday. At the last moment my wife found out that she couldn't come due to professional reasons. The staff was very supportive and didn't charge the half-board for her and let me stay in the large room that we had originally asked. The food was surprisingly good and the menu's quite varied. The rooms are super clean and the staff are very very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

“Good llocation in Valloire”

The hotel is on a busy road but we found it quietened down OK at night. The rooms are a little on the small side considering it is the “grand” original hotel in Valloire and very much focused on the ski theme not on the summer trade. The hotel is on a busy road but we found it quietened down OK at night. The rooms are a little on the small side considering it is the “grand” original hotel in Valloire and very much focused on the ski theme not on the summer trade. The beds all seemed to be normal doubles so not very large. The shower room was tiny with a very small shower cubicle. There was plenty of parking across the road. There is also a swimming pool but unfortunately it was raining when we arrived so it was closed up. Valloire and the hotel were very quiet at the end of June, and we were one of only two groups in the (very good) restaurant. The meal was especially well presented with lots of little extras. The hotel is well positioned to walk to other bars and restaurants but a lot of them were not open at the end of June.
