In the past, we always chose hotels close to the highway before the Novotel in Lyon, but those stays were often disappointing. This time, we decided to try a hotel in this newer, lively district of Lyon, which is still conveniently close to the highway. It turned out to be a great choice. The staff were friendly, the hotel has a good restaurant, and the rooms were very comfortable and nicely designed. Another big advantage was the safe parking available in the parking garage next door, and the dog-friendly attitude and great walks in the immediate neighborhood. Overall, this is definitely a place we would return to when traveling south.

“Good location”

Very well located, just steps away from the station within reach of major city attractions. The hotel has a direct access to the Mall and the service is ok.

Novotel Lyon Centre Confluence Bord de Saone is probably best described as an OK place for overnight business stops. The immediate environs of the entrance are very poorly maintained, quite awful. The entrance lobby is like a lift area to a multi-storey car park. The reception is on the 2nd Floor , the reception staff were excellent as indeed were all the staff who were to a person friendly & welcoming, I was impressed with their attitude and helpfulness. The 6th Floor room we had was quite dull , my wife wife called it the 'brown room'. The room was small , I had to walk side ways to get into one side of the bed. There was one small wardrobe with a single shelf an five hangers. No drawers. We asked for a larger room but none was available. There were tea & coffee makings but no milk sachets or the like. We quickly bought milk for the small fridge. Filtered water was provided daily. My wife did not believe the mirrors were very well placed for her to apply make-up. One night we heard the extreme revving of a car engine , it would seem the area is used by 'boy racers' which explained the numerous huge concrete blocks near the hotel entrance , presumably there to obstruct their access to the quayside and protect pedestrians. There were two options for breakfast , these were explained on a card in the room, explained in a way that bore no resemblance to the advice given on breakfast 'check-in' . Even after seven days there I would not guarantee my full understanding. Basically , though the terms are not used , there is 'continental' or 'full breakfast' option. We stuck to continental but were billed for a mix of both options. I challenged this and it was quickly corrected without any issue. For me , not one of the breakfast cereals was one I would choose. There was a wide choice of other things. As with many hotels the coffee and cold drinks left much to be desired. The hotel was very clean although on one day our room was not made-up. By far the best thing about this hotel was the wonderful staff, but even their excellent skills would be sufficient justification to return or recommend this hotel.
