Just had 1 week in Val staying in Aspen Loge. Family of 5. The staff were great - Jess looked after us in the chalet and Charlie was a great concierge always on call, arranging restaurant bookings etc. Really efficient ski/boot room on ground floor - equipment is dropped off and picked up at start/end week. Slopes are 100m(?) then you’re straight up Solaise or Olympique… The food was fantastic - duck/lentils, cheesecake, poached pear. Also afternoon tea on return from skiing - carrot cake and banana cakes were v v good. Plan a diet after. Aspen is in a great location - next to beautiful church, I think other guests must have gone the long way round to pistes judging by comments? Walking into Val for bars is 2 minutes even if icy - Yule, Blizzard… Ground floor jacuzzi and sauna/steam very nice after a day of piste bashing. It’s hard to imagine it done better - some of the negative responses really surprising, maybe the art or having fun is lost on some people! Ha ha

“Luxurious Chalets in a great location”

We stayed in Aspen Lodge with our children aged 3, 7 and 10 in the Easter holidays of 2015. We hired a nanny and used the Oxygene ski school organised by VIP for the older children. We stayed in Aspen Lodge with our children aged 3, 7 and 10 in the Easter holidays of 2015. We hired a nanny and used the Oxygene ski school organised by VIP for the older children. Our Chalet host and nanny worked hard to make things easy and we had a relaxing time. Amazing transfer with a coach meeting just our plane and going to just our building. (2 hrs 50 from Geneva so still a long journey). The accommodation was located on the main street of Val D'Isere around 5 minutes walk from the lifts or two minutes from the bus stop to Le Fornet or La Daille for some easier skiing. It was very comfortable. The food was brilliant (lots of choice at breakfast time including pancakes one morning, canapés 2 nights per week and three courses plus cheese other nights with included wine). The children's food was also brilliant. Lunch was included with the nanny and the menu was flexible to their tastes. The ski school was great with the children, they made friends with other children in the resort and made progress with skiing. Our youngest was well entertained with snowman building, swimming, ice skating, crafts etc. There was a communal area downstairs with free beer, wine, elderflower and hot drinks. There was also a pool table, sport on a big screen and hot tubs outside. We did find the resort was not the best place to ski with early intermediates such as our 10 year old as the ski home was mostly down the black runs, although our opinion was influenced by the heavy snow and high winds that affected most of the week we were there. following on from other comments re the noise and the temperature - It was warm in the chalets and when we opened the windows to cool down there was some noise from outside but neither of these were major issues for us. Overall a fabulous holiday, thank you VIP!

“Enjoyable holiday in a good chalet”

A block of chalet apartments with conceirge, reception, small communal lounge and boot room. We were in Mulberry, 2 families with teenage children. We all had a great time. Imogen was a great host and a good cook too, very welcoming and flexible. The apartments are good quality, not luxury. Clean and well maintained. Bathrooms are better equipped then most. Bedrooms larger on the lower level, upstairs rooms have low ceilings. Lots of storage. Lounge/dining area is like other chalets, nothing special but big enough and comfy if sharing with friends and happy to be cosy. Ski’s can be booked to be transported to the slopes, not the most timely but certainly better than carrying them 300m up a path that was v icy when we were there. Large gondola’s take you quickly to Val d’Isère slopes or Tignes area, both v good and with a good choice of slopes for all levels. We would recommend Le Lodge restaurant (round the corner from Aspen Lodge) and Les Turfs in Daille (bottom of a blue run, it can be icy at the bottom of the piste as low down or close to the village shuttle bus stop by Daille lifts. One suggestion for VIP - you provided ample wine but would be great if some of the quantity is substituted for soft drinks for the children instead please.
