Travelled with my 15 yr old son for 5 nights Snowboarding and Skiing. If you know Samoens you’ll appreciate this great location, really close into the village, and the bus collection to the Grand Massif directly outside. We had a couple of great dinners in the hotel and ate in town on the other occasions. The BedRoom was small but very comfortable for 2 people. The bath water was great, although ceilings too low for a shower. )I didn’t mind a long soak in the bath after a day snowboarding) Bonus of an outside pool, under cover. Yes is cold, but nice and you soon warm up. For skiers and snowboarders there is a locker room downstairs, under the hotel, this is quite small but we never felt squashed in there, just be patient is 2/3 persons are already in there, as not enough room for more than that. This met our requirements perfectly, was well priced and the service at front desk and restaurant was spot on throughout our trip.

“Brilliant Stay”

The hotel is in a brilliant spot maybe 3 mins from the town and right out for bus stop. The family who run the hotel are amazing and the rooms are ideal. We didn't use the restaurant but was always busy. Samoens is fantastic and we had the best time skiing

Just returned from a lovely week in the gorgeous town of Sameon. Stayed at the Gai Soleil. Fantastic location and excellent hosts who were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has great facilities, the bedrooms had great views and were very comfortable. There is a lovely bar area serving drinks. Hot tub and spa area downstairs. Would highly recommend.

Gai Soleil (Honest Family Stay Review) 📍 Location The hotel is ideally positioned on the edge of the centre of Samoens, around 1–1.5 hours from Geneva Airport and very close to plenty of restaurants and bars in the village, making evenings easy and relaxed. The ski bus stops right outside, with easy links to the main lifts: • Grand Massif • Vercland (Yellow Bus) • Morillon (White Bus) This was very convenient, especially as we ended up skiing more in Morillon than Samoëns. 🛏 Room The room was clean and spacious enough for our family of four. It worked well having a separate sleeping area for the kids, although this was positioned in the entrance corridor. Positives: • Comfortable beds • Plenty of storage for dry clothes • Bath (great for the kids) Negatives: • Nowhere to hang wet ski clothes (we improvised using doors and the shower screen) • No kettle, tea/coffee facilities, fridge or basic cutlery, frustrating as we were self-catering • Only two towels provided despite four of us staying • Broken toilet seat • Very tight toilet position at the end of the bath • Bath and shower not ideal if you’re tall The biggest issue was noise. We were two floors above the dining area and the scraping of chairs and service noise carried badly. If staying here, I would strongly recommend requesting a room towards the back of the hotel. 🎿 Ski & Boot Facilities There is a heated ski and boot room, which was very useful after a full day on the slopes. Boots were warm and ready each morning, which makes a big difference on a ski trip, especially in cold weather. 🎮 Playroom & Kids’ Area The hotel also has a games/play room with table tennis, table football and board/children’s games, great for letting the kids unwind after skiing. 🏨 Facilities Check-in was quick and easy (we arrived around 7 pm). The hotel is family-run and can be very busy, which may explain why we had to piece together information about some facilities ourselves during the stay. Facilities include: • Indoor pool & family jacuzzi • Separate adults-only jacuzzi and steam room (very hot, be aware) • Heated ski and boot room • Games/play room with table tennis and football table • Lovely bar/lounge area with fire, games and plenty of seating, a great spot to relax after skiing • Restaurant on site, we only did breakfast which is buffet style and good choice of hot and cold options. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who It Suits This is very much a family-friendly hotel, especially for ski trips. That said, it would also work well for couples or a long weekend break. ⭐ Final Thoughts A well-located, friendly family hotel with great facilities, but room noise, lack of self-catering basics and some small room details were frustrating. If we stayed again, we would: • Request a room away from the front/dining area • Need basic self-catering facilities (fridge, kettle, simple cutlery) Overall, a nice stay with some areas for improvement.
