We spent a weekend in Auxerre and this hotel was a perfect place to stay. It's easy to get to by car since it's right off the boulevard that rings the old town, but once you've parked your car in their roomy shaded lot you'll never need it again because you're walking distance from all the sites. The hotel is a charming 19th century house with a huge garden (and nice looking pool but it hadn't opened yet for the season). A few floors creak but who cares. This place is full of character with lots of period pieces in the common rooms. Our room was super comfortable and quiet. We had a fridge and a kettle, as well as a balcony. The couple who run it are extremely friendly and enthusiastic, and ready to give all sorts of advice about the town. (Note that they bought it in 2024 so any reviews from before then are irrelevant). The breakfast buffet is above average for this sort of hotel in France and is taken in a charming room off the garden. (fruit, yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, hard boiled eggs, bread, jam, croissants).

This is a wonderful hotel in a good location near the city centre and within easy walking distance. There are two car parks with plenty of room for parking and good wide spaces. The reception area contains some nice period furniture and a water filter - each room has a bottle which you can fill with water from the filter. The owner of the hotel is absolutely fantastic and provided a lot of information about the hotel and its environs. He has a great sense of humour and clearly the right person to be working in the tourism industry. The hotel has a lift and a nice period staircase. The room was fantastic with a good sized bed with good pillows and comfortable bedding. There was a good sized wardrobe and the view was to the garden. The room contained tea and coffee making facilities and an information pack with details of local restaurants. The pool was very clean and there were also some sun loungers and an outdoor shower with plenty of towels. The breakfast the next morning was excellent with plenty of choice of drinks and hot and cold food. One thing that impressed me was that the owner kept his eye on the kettle which showed the temperature of the water and he ensured that it was 100 degrees much better than most hotels these awful machines with lukewarm water, there was no noise at night time and the hotel was very good value for money.

“A wonderful historic gem of a hotel”

A truly unique wonderful hotel. Loads of character and a fascinating history around the hotel. The hotel is lovingly looked after and I would love to visit again. The owners were very friendly and the room was lovely and clean. The hotel is an easy 10-15 minute walk to the city centre.

Not a good first impression, Front of the hotel was full of weeds . All the window shutters were rotten and needed renewing or painting, Wanted paying for breakfast next day , Already had taken payment for the stay 2 days before? A/c was broken ,So a mobile one was put in the room , Had to switch it off as to noisy, The owners wife asked us to park between the lines in the car park , Which we did . An hour later he came up while we was sitting by the pool , Shouting you haven’t parked correctly ? I moved my car which was 2 inches over the line , Strange as a German car was parked in 2 bays , The only thing that was good was the breakfast!
