I stayed at the Kyriad Charleville-Mezieres for four nights in mid-October 2019. I reserved online. I am mobility impaired (I use a walker). I saw online that the hotel has facilities for the mobility handicapped, but at their Kyriad website and Booking. com I could not find a room for the handicapped as a choice when booking. I reserved a room and then sent an email to the hotel explaining what I needed. They responded the same day, in English and assured me they booked me into a room with the features I required. As it turned out I checked into the hotel around midnight. My friend (who speaks French) called the hotel earlier in the evening and explained I would be arriving quite late. Upon arrival we found the door locked and the lobby dark. (This is common in hotels in France, unless you are in a huge chain hotel like Marriott). However, I rang the doorbell and the front desk clerk appeared quickly. I was greeted with a friendly "Bonsoir, Madame" and handed my room key. I asked did I need to show my passport or credit card. No, no. How easy is that! There is an elevator to access all floors. I was very pleased to see I had been assigned a room with hand rails in the bathroom and a very nice roll-in shower with a shower chair and hand-held shower wand. The water pressure was good, there was plenty of hot water. The lighting in the bathroom was bright. There was a hairdryer. A eco-friendly combo body wash/shampoo is provided in a wall dispenser. I used it and found it was a very nice product. If you need conditioner bring your own, as it is not provided. The room was better than I expected. It was big, by French hotel standards, and had a large window that opened wide to let in the crisp fall air. The view overlooked a tree near the hotel entrance. The room was quiet all the time I was there. There is a small closet with a dozen clothes hangers. There was a tea kettle that boiled water in less than 60 seconds. I travel with my own coffee, but the hotel furnishes instant coffees (several types, including decaf and cappuccino), assorted teas, sugar, sugar substitutes and cookies. I had a double bed. It was very comfortable. The pillows were very good. There was a flat screen television. A small table (like those in hospital rooms, making it handy to move about the room) and chair and a desk. There were small nightstands next to each bed that had handy electrical outlets. It made it easy to charge my electronics. The hotel provides free Wifi and it worked well. I purchased the hotel's breakfast on two days of my stay. I enjoyed it very much. The breakfast room is large and has lots of tables and chairs. There was a large selection of breads: the Ardennes sweet bread with sugar topping, pancakes, waffles, crepes and French bread. Jams, butter, honey, Nutella and even maple syrup were provided. There is a machine that dispenses frozen yogurt. In a large glass cold cabinet you can choose yogurts, fruit compotes, and other dairy products. Cheeses, sliced deli meats, hard boiled eggs and cereals are also available. There is a coffee machine that dispenses several kinds of coffee (black coffee, cafe au last, cappuccino, even hot chocolate). A selection of black, green and herbal teas is available. All in all I was very happy at the Kyriad during my stay. The day staff spoke English. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The hotel is located in a convenient area. The Place Ducale is only two blocks away. It is a lovely town and the hotel makes it easy to shop and sightsee. The only "con" was I wish the room had a small fridge, but this is uncommon in French hotels especially outside large cities.

I never stayed at Kyriad hotels before, and in December 2018 I have spent just one day in this one. Entry hall was a bit cramped, but enough for a hotel of this size. It connected to the breakfast/dining area. Breakfast was very good with more than enough choices of food. Rooms on the curved side of the hotel are larger, while rooms facing the side street and yard (mine included) are a bit too small for a longer stay. Room was very clean and well maintained. Bed was comfortable, and there were two types of pillows to choose from. Air con. worked fine. Desk was very narrow, and I didn’t find any suitable wall socket near it to connect my laptop charger. Coat hangers are too flimsy for heavier things like winter jacket. Complementary bottle of water, choice of teas and coffee, and snacks were on the shelf. Bathroom was large enough for one person, impeccably clean, cleanest shower cabin I have ever seen, and with wall mounted hair dryer. Hotel was well maintained and in good overall condition, so those pictures from 2012-13 are out of date. It’s a very nice and clean hotel, but if you plan a longer stay, ask for one of those larger rooms.

Good parking with roomy spaces, worth the charge. Bedrooms on the inner curved side of the building could do with some net curtains because it is impossible to avoid looking into other bedrooms, albeit at an angle. Functional shower room and air conditioning that was a bit rattly until I turned the fan setting down, after which it was fine and did the job. Bedrooms varied and some were slightly cramped because of the arrangement of the furniture. Decent space to store clothes. Reception staff mostly charming and helpful, particularly Amar and Agnèse, but David could do with some training on interpersonal skills.

“Part of our motorbike tour ”

Pleasant hotel with short walk to centre of town and restaurants. Good, secure parking for motorbikes. Rooms clean and tidy. Disappointed with breakfast, looked like staff struggled to keep up with demand but it was fine when you got it. Good place to base yourself if exploring the area.

The hotel is ok, it is located close to the centre and the rooms are nice and clean. Parking is at extra cost which is ashame. But we managed to find a space around the hotel as its free from 6 pm and sunday. The airco is loud, it wasn't ours as we turned it off but you can hear the one from the ro… more

The hotel is ok, it is located close to the centre and the rooms are nice and clean. Parking is at extra cost which is ashame. But we managed to find a space around the hotel as its free from 6 pm and sunday. The airco is loud, it wasn't ours as we turned it off but you can hear the one from the room above of next door... not sure where it came from. But if you are looking for a hotel in this price range I would recommend.
