“Good stop over”

A good stop over to the alps. A McDonalds nearby if you don’t fancy a short walk to a few restaurants. Also has a microwave if you have a ready meal with you!

Pleasant, clean and tidy; perfectly adequate for a comfortable overnight stay . The continental breakfast was adequate, but set out in quite a small area with just a little food laid out at a time. Having a 6 digit code (plus * and #) instead of a keycard was a bit odd, especially with it written on a card with your room number on the other side - not the best security device!

B&B Hotels seem to be undergoing a period of expansion and are offering a special rate to members of their loyalty scheme for new hotels so we took advantage of a €50 overnight stay. Having stayed at other hotels in the same location (there is a F1, Ibis and Novotel within view of the B&B) we knew that it was easily accessible from the autoroute and there were places to eat and a petrol station nearby. This hotel is newly rebranded by the current operator, as was the last one we stayed at, so it’s difficult to gain an impression of any corporate identity. We found that the entrance hall/ reception/ breakfast room to be dark and gloomy. After taking the lift we emerged into a very dark corridor and our room was beyond the fire doors that had to be opened with some force. The rooms next to them probably suffer from noise disturbance as people come and go. The room was adequate for an overnight stay, rather small and but with a comfortable bed, decent linen and air conditioning. The bathroom was dated with a small shower cubicle and worn out towels. We received a voucher for one free breakfast as part of the loyalty scheme but at €11 it is not good value. There are industrial croissants as well as nice bread, jams, cheese and yoghurt. There were small pots of scrambled egg and bacon strips keeping warm which we didn’t try. A hot beverage machine dispensed acceptable coffee but the hot water was well below the temperature needed to infuse teabags which made the tea insipid, luke warm and undrinkable. We would not recommend taking the breakfast, despite the convenience, as there are bakeries within walking distance and I would advise taking a travel kettle. The receptionist was a pleasant young woman and recommended a pizza restaurant for the evening, giving us a 10% voucher. All told it was a good enough stop at the price.
