We stayed for 10 days in this hotel as some friends were getting married nearby. The hotel reception, breakfast room & cleaning staff all friendly, courteous, professional and helpful. Beds were very comfy, bathroom was immaculate and the hotel was clean everywhere you went. The blackout blinds were about the best I've come across. It's location is perfect for restaurants, bars, shopping etc. And there is far more to Brive-la-Gaillarde than many might think. Getting to and from the hotel from the train station is quick and easy, so after a tiring days travel within 20 minutes of arrival at the station we were in our room. Would we return? Absolutely.

For a long term stay the hotel staff was very nice and helpful through my whole trip. Breakfast was good. Would highly recommend staying here. Lots of sites to see around the area! Many great restaurants! Good service in the hotel. Loved spending time here.

Due to some minor business ventures, I spent 3 September days (19th - 21st) in a lovely and picturesque city of Brive-la-Gaillarde in Corrèze department in France. I decided to stay in Best Western Hotel Le Quercy (8 Quai Tourny, 19100 Brive-la-Gaillarde). The location of the hotel is very convenient – just in the northern outskirts of Brieve's downtown, in front of the local market hall and a park and 5 minutes' walk from Corrèze river embankment with scenic routes for joggers and bikers. The room I stayed at was commodious, designed in a cozy modern manner and I dare say, a bit more comfortable then I would expect from a 3 star hotel. The bed was huge and variety of pillows to chose from more than sufficient, so it came as a no surprise, that the sleep quality was very good. Cannot say much about the food, because I only had breakfasts at the hotel. They were ok though, fitting perfectly the 3 star standard of the hotel. There is however a lot to complain about regarding service. Definitely one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time. First of all, the English language skills of the staff at the reception leaves very much to be desired. I know "it is the French thing" and stuff like that, but you just can't run a travel facility without English speaking personnel these days. But worse was yet to come. The second day of my stay, after arriving in the hotel late afternoon I discovered my room was not cleaned (and I left there quite a mass, I have to admit). Upon trying to clarify the matter at the reception desk I was informed, that they did not clean it intentionally because I left a "Do not disturb" sheet hanging on the door handle of my room. Well, that was a very blatant lie, because I especially cared about my room being cleaned since I left quite a mess in there. I tried to explain it at the reception, but the lady there, persistently held to her explanation (given to her on the phone by the cleaning service supervisor, who was not present anymore at the hotel premises at that time), and using it as a very convenient excuse. When I asked her what can be done about the situation, I was informed that the cleaning personnel is not present at the facility anymore (it was 5:20 afternoon) and if I want my room cleaned, I must wait until next day around 10:00 o'clock in the morning. I explained to the lady that it does not satisfy me at all and asked her to clear the matter with the hotel manager. She promised me she would do so, and that the manager will get back to me, but no one ever did. And when I was leaving the next day early afternoon, the reception officer who checked me out, knew absolutely nothing about my case (!). All in all, the issue with the cleaning left me with a very bitter impression of the Best Western Le Quercy. It is one thing to make a mistake (can happen to anybody), but shamelessly lying in your face in order to deny responsibility is a whole another story. Therefore, a really nice facility in a convenient location, which should easily earn a 4.5 / 5, ends up only average (3/5). I will definitely not return there.
