We arrived late and exhausted after a long Motorcycle journey. Vincent was incredibly kind helpful and went over and above to help us find safe parking and he stayed late to ensure we found the hotel and we’re settled I. Our lovely room. The room was quiet as at the back and the bed was so comfortable! All facilities are modern and clean. We over slept but Ursula was so kind and arranged late check out for us. We were able to leave our bike gear behind reception after check out so that we could have lunch out at our leisure. This hotel was a fabulous find and in a perfect location on the quay. Wonderful friendly helpful staff and clean lovely room and facilities. Highly recommend.

“Hotel, Location, Staff and Breakfast excellent. GO TO HOTEL, while in France”

We stayed here 2 years ago and whilst we enjoyed our time, enough to book again this year, staff then were a little off putting...my personal opinion. This time, it is totally different. We stayed here 2 years ago and whilst we enjoyed our time, enough to book again this year, staff then were a little off putting...my personal opinion. This time, it is totally different. Staff are EXCELLENT, everyone of them. Welcoming, helpful and so friendly. The room, Poet View, as before, lived up to expectations...one added and absolutely terrific bonus was the AMAZING BREAKFAST served to our room. This is our GO TO HOTEL when visiting France..as is the City of La Rochelle our GO TO CITY. Thanks to all at La Marine. You made our Anniversary, one to remember this year.❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉

Hotel La Marine is centrally located in the heart of La Rochelle’s old port, just above the iconic promenade and easily accessible from the train station. The hotel faces the harbor, offering a scenic and vibrant atmosphere. Despite being on a busy street, the room was well soundproofed thanks to double-glazed windows. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, offering great local tips and recommendations. Although the building is historic, it has been recently and tastefully modernized. We weren’t able to connect to the WiFi from our room, despite it being available. Also, there was no mini bar fridge (to store food) or bottled water to drink. All in all, it’s a Bead and Breakfast, with not much amenities. It’s a great place to stay in La Rochelle, especially for its cleanliness, modern design, and unbeatable location.

A difficult place to review as the hotel has some big positives and some equally big negatives. My room overlooked the harbor, big, light and with what seemed like a fairly new bathroom behind. All positives and at the price I paid very good value. Breakfast arrived each morning, the staff are extremely accommodating and that view will be enough to win many over. But then the negatives, Two steep staircases and two heavy doors up to reception. While my room might have been refurbished, the corridors make most budget hotels public spaces look like the Palais de Versailles. The wifi isn’t great, the room smelt of cigarettes, but that might be the cafe below. The hours that the front desk is available - there’s a big gap in the middle of the day, does cause issues. So with a mid afternoon train and an eleven o’clock check out I had to pay for a bag storage facility that the front desk suggested. The bed clothes are a bit odd - the place has a little hippy/hostel vibe at times - and there’s a lack of useful electrical ports. Clue, if something like the TV doesn’t work scrabble around the back and see if someone hasn’t unplugged it. And it’s not just the stairs that make it challenging if you are older. Both the entrance to the room and the entrances to the bathroom and toilet had some good sized steps. Choosing a star rating for this is difficult. Should it be two, because of the issues and in particular the fact that the reception isn’t staffed that much or should it be four because it’s a huge light room overlooking the harbor at a very good price.
