Wonderful experience with an exquisite atmosphere in the hotel ! Beautiful cozy comfortable rooms, cleaning perfect ! Conditions perfect ! We stayed just 3 nights and were said we couldn’t stay longer and we loved everything about this hotel ! Wonderful placed in the heart of Paris , lots of stores, boutiques, restaurants, bars, all you need right there ! The stuff was incredibly nice and helpful, very welcoming and a joy to interact with them ! The manager was also a very friendly and nice person who guided us where to go and gave us wonderful hints and the personal from front desk very nice friendly people and ready to help you with anything you need ! They have elevator, great buffet breakfast! For sure coming back here when we will return to Paris ! We loved it !

A wonderful stay at this fabulous hotel in Saint Germain again.The manager Eric and Jessica could not have been more helpful, friendly and made our stay so comfortable. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and the bed extremely comfortable, probably one of the best I have slept in during holidays around the world. Breakfast is good with superb croissants. There is an abundance of great restaurants all within walking distance, the hotels position is just perfect. Lovely to see Caroline again today before we left. Hopefully we will return again in the not too distant future.

“Real nice hotel”

Splendid old fashioned hotel in a perfect area. The decoration has a lot of detail and the staff are very polite and helpful. I'm not sure what other guests think but our room was on the 2nd floor and very quiet we had no problems sleeping. Walking distance from Saint Michel and not far from some nice neighbourhoods. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed at this gem of a hotel for 11 nights just a couple of weeks ago. We chose it because of the immediate area which is extremely lively and vibrant and close to all the things we love about Paris, and because it was affordable and we could get a larger room for two twin beds, which was important to us as we need a bit of room to stretch. The welcome from hotel manager Eric is so warm and gracious when you arrive (he is there Mon-Fri) that you feel like you are coming to someone's private home. I read many reviews here on Trip Advisor going back some years and they were so positive I felt good about booking so I did. Cleanliness was also extremely important. I found everything I had counted on was in fact true. The rooms look exactly like the photos on their website. The decor is classically French and comfortable, suitable for a 15th century building with all the original wood intact. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms very clean and well maintained. The water pressure in the bathroom was the strongest I have ever found in my life let alone in Paris where it can be a bit anemic in some places. The shower arrangement is that there is a nice big bathtub with a shower attachment up top which you can remove and hold in your hand. The trick is to get it facing the right direction so the water doesn't get on the floor, since there is one of those half-glass shower doors so common in Paris. There is a good sized closet with extra pillows and blankets, so you can hang your clothes. The breakfast is very good and provides an excellent selection of items as well as fresh hot coffee (no machine here!) and scrambled eggs made in the small kitchen next to the downstairs stone-walled room it is served in. While it is near an area full of cafe life I found the hotel itself to be very quiet indeed. Closing the windows helps a lot if there is street noise. Just a half block away on Rue de Buci are a good market and a wine store, along with many cafes, an excellent Patisserie which has great sandwiches, pastries and chocolate of course; as well, there are a laundromat, dry cleaners, and everything you could want within a few blocks. The Rue Gregoire de Tours itself has several excellent intimate restaurants to enjoy. At the other end is the magnificent Boulevard Saint Germain. There are 4 taxi stands within 4 blocks and one right at the corner so quick access to the taxis. The charming Grand Hotel De L' Univers couldn't be better situated to have access to the 6th as well as the more low-key, beautiful and history-rich 5th arrondissement. As mentioned, manager Eric is like a human balm for the soul and the front desk staff are very helpful and there is someone there 24/7. We will stay here next time we come and I highly recommend this hotel to those looking to stay in this fantastic area.
