“Great home base to explore Paris from”

I've been to Paris a few times before but this was my favorite spot to stay so far. It's location near a main boulevard and a metro station is very convenient. Staff is friendly, rooms are nice and breakfast buffet is delicious!

Dear Hotel des Voyageurs team, I am writing regarding our recent stay at Hotel des Voyageurs in Paris. We made our reservations through Booking.com and had two rooms: room 206 under the name Agustín Cogorno, and room 104 under the name Lucas Cogorno. First of all, I would like to acknowledge the positive aspects of our stay. The rooms were very good, the hotel is in an excellent location, the cleanliness was impeccable, and we genuinely enjoyed the breakfast. The cleaning staff did an excellent job. Unfortunately, however, the treatment we received from most of the reception staff was extremely disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable for a hotel of this standard and price. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly met with a complete lack of basic courtesy. Whenever I said “good morning” or “good evening” to the reception staff, nobody even answered or acknowledged me. Staff members often appeared cold, unwilling to assist us and, on several occasions, openly rude. There was also an incident when I was unable to enter the hotel. I was outside trying to get in, but nobody from reception came to open the door. The only person who eventually helped me was the person in charge of the bar, who had to come out and open the door for me because, as I understood it, the night receptionist was asleep. I find this particularly concerning. The situation this morning at breakfast was also extremely upsetting. My mother was asked to leave because a member of staff apparently thought she was trying to access breakfast without having paid, when in fact both rooms and all the services included in our stay had already been fully paid for. This was humiliating and completely unnecessary. I would also like to emphasize that the only member of the hotel staff who consistently treated us with genuine courtesy was a Spanish-speaking woman, apparently Latin American or Spanish. She was always smiling, attentive and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Her attitude stood out precisely because it was so different from what we experienced with the rest of the staff. The person in charge of the bar was also polite and helpful, particularly when he came to open the door for me. Apart from these individuals, our experience with the reception staff was extremely poor. As an Argentine family, we unfortunately also felt on several occasions that we were treated differently when speaking English or Spanish. The looks, the lack of basic greetings and the overall attitude made us feel particularly unwelcome. We were left with the impression that there was a negative attitude towards us because of our nationality. I sincerely hope this is not representative of the hotel’s policy or culture, but this is how the experience made us feel. I would therefore like to speak directly with a manager or someone in a position of responsibility who can explain to me why the reception staff treated us in this way throughout our stay. I believe this deserves an explanation. I want to emphasize that my complaint is not about the facilities. On the contrary: the rooms were very good, the cleanliness was excellent, the location is very convenient, and we loved the breakfast. My complaint is specifically about the level of customer service and the way we were treated, which in our experience was simply not up to the standard of the hotel. For the amount we paid, I expected a completely different level of hospitality and basic courtesy. A good hotel is not only about the rooms and facilities, but also about how guests are treated. I intend to leave an honest review on Booking.com and will decide separately what other steps, if any, I feel are appropriate regarding our experience and its public exposure. However, I wanted to contact you directly first and give the hotel the opportunity to address this situation. I would appreciate a response from a manager or senior member of staff regarding this matter. The hotel was clean, bed and pillows were very comfortable, and breakfast was plentiful with a variety of food. One of the bartenders, 'Max', was wonderful. He was very personable, happy to assist us, and very informative when we inquired about beverages. However, there were some negative aspects to the room such as: the lighting in the room was very dim; the bathroom was small with not much shelving for toiletries; the hair dryer was not easy to use, since it did not stay on when turned on, rather you had to squeeze the handle to use; the room door was very heavy and the doorknob was very hard to turn, upon entering and exiting the room; the air conditioning was loud and the room cleaning schedule, which was 1700-1800 hours, was not convenient when returning from a long day touring and preparing to go out for dinner.
