My Mom and I had a wonderful stay at Maison Albar – Le Diamond to celebrate my mom’s birthday. My BFF recommended the hotel and it did not disappoint. It’s located next to the Gare Saint-Lazare and a Saint Lazare Metro. It’s a short 10-15 minute walk to Printemps and Galeries Lafayette in one direction and Rue Royale with Dior, Chanel, Prada, Hermes etc. in the other direction. One early Sunday morning, I walked from the hotel to Musee D’Orsay to meet my cousin for the Renoir exhibit. It’s a great 30 minute walk. It was early enough that there were not a lot of people out and traffic was very minimal so I got a great picture looking from Place de la Concorde all the way down the Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Next to the hotel is a little market if you need snacks, beverages, etc. OK...back to the hotel It has great air condition! We missed the heatwave during the French Open and thankfully the terrible heatwave after we left. The lobby has a small bar and a restaurant where they serve wonderful breakfast buffet. There is also an inner courtyard/patio for dining. When we checked in were given a welcome cocktail. The staff is wonderful and the gentleman who showed us to our room let my mom talk his ear off. lol My mom speaks so French so it was an extended conversation. Since it was my Mom’s birthday, the hotel surprised her with champagne and macarons. Our room was an Executive Suite with a sofa bed. There was lots of space with a sitting area and desk. The room has French windows which open up to see Gare Saint Lazre and you can hear the sounds of the city and people watch. There's also the Saint Lazare metro. The king size bed was super comfy and the sofa bed wasn’t too bad either. The bathroom was a bit too dark for my mom’s liking. The bathroom lighting is controlled by an app which was a bit tricky to figure out but once I did, you could change the color of the lighting in the shower. My 93-yr old mom was not impressed. She just wanted brighter lights. There is an in-room safe to store your valuables. That is one of my must-haves when I travel. My travel agent booked the hotel thru Delta Vacations. The breakfast buffet has lots of options that should satisfy most eaters. We also had afternoon cocktails and foie gras. The only thing tricky thing with the hotel is the main entrance is on a busy street with no parking in front so it can be tricky with unloading and loading luggage. Our car service dropped us off in front of the hotel but parked on a side street to pick us up for our return trip to CDG which was perfect since it was a busy Wed morning with rush hour traffic. We did a mix of walking, Uber and G7 taxis. My mom used a walker on this trip and we had no issues navigating the hotel. I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Paris.
