Our recent stay at Le Moulin in Lourmarin was everything you hope for in a Provençal boutique hotel and more. Perfectly located right in the center of this beautiful pedestrian village on Avenue Raoul Dautry (Place du Moulin), it sits just steps from the Château de Lourmarin and the lively village streets. You can stroll everywhere — to the Friday market, charming shops, cafés, and restaurants — without ever needing the car. It’s an ideal base for exploring the Luberon, including the lavender fields. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored 18th-century oil mill that perfectly blends historic character (exposed stone walls, ancient mill presses in the restaurant) with elegant, contemporary Provençal design. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and effortlessly stylish. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional team. The staff was consistently attentive, pleasant, and exceptionally well-trained. Every interaction felt genuine and thoughtful. A special shout-out to General Manager Loïs Verset. He is a tremendous leader who has clearly set the tone for excellence across the entire property. His passion and high standards are evident in every detail, and he is undoubtedly a star for Beaumier Hotels. The team’s “above and beyond” approach made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. Dining was a highlight. The fine dining experience at Bacheto, the hotel’s restaurant, delivered excellent food with fresh, seasonal Provençal and Mediterranean flavors. The sharing plates, beautiful presentation, and warm atmosphere (whether on the terrace or in the historic vaulted dining room) made every meal memorable. We also loved the excellent café-épicerie, Les Commissions du Moulin, which shares the terrace. It’s the perfect spot for a specialty coffee in the morning, a light lunch or apéro in the afternoon, or to grab local treats. The village energy right outside makes it feel like a true local hub. The rooms are comfortable, stylish, and meticulously detailed — the perfect blend of historic charm and modern luxury. The overall feeling is one of understated elegance and quiet comfort — like staying in a beautifully restored Provençal home rather than a standard hotel room. Our room had a premium king bed with high-quality linens for excellent sleep. The hotel air conditioning (plus the natural cooling of the thick mill walls) was an escape from the heat wave throughout our stay. From the warm welcome to the thoughtful service, outstanding food, and unbeatable location, Le Moulin delivered on every level. Whether you’re visiting for the lavender fields, the markets, or simply to soak up the best of the Luberon, this is the place to stay. Highly recommended — we’ll be back.
