We were heading back to Denmark after spending time with family in the Vosges area of France. Our first night, of three, we spent in Friedrichshafen at the Select Hotel Friedrichshafen. This very modern hotel, situated on a quiet street in the pedestrian zone, is only 30 metres from Lake Constance, and could not be more ideally located. We were able to access the hotel with our car and find parking a short distance away. The staff at the hotel were excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Our room was large and very comfortable, wifi was included. The next morning's breakfast buffet was everything that we have come to relish in "European" breakfasts. Very complete and delicious, always a great start to the day! The location of this hotel is excellent for those wanting easy access to the lake, its lakeside promenade and also to other dining options and shopping. Also, if you are looking for a quick meal for later in the day, check out "backwerk", next door. This is a convenient fast food stop where you can grab something for "on the run". Friedrichshafen, as well as being ideally located on beautiful Lake Constance, is known for the Zeppelin Museum, where its important role in aviation history is documented. Situated on the northern shoreline of Lake Constance and near to the borders of both Switzerland and Austria. you can see the Swiss Alps across the lake. It is an area that we would like to return to!

“Wonderful stay with some fair warning”

The location is wonderful and the service was good. Rooms and beds are comfortable. Lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The location is wonderful and the service was good. Rooms and beds are comfortable. Lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The only drawbacks (and they’re not so bad if you know going into it what’s going on ahead of time) are the parking is about a quarter mile walk, so if you have larger luggage they will allow you to park at the entrance and unload then go to the parking garage which is max 15 euros per day. The other drawback is there is no air conditioning, but they do provide a small but mighty fan to aid with cooling and the windows do open (but street cleaning does start early). There is no elevator so if you are carrying heavy luggage prepare for a climb up some stairs. The rooms are clean and homey and we would stay here again.

“Great base for visiting Friedrichshafen”

I was happy to find a good deal on a clean and centrally located hotel. The room was fine, only I hit my arm a few times on the heater in the bathroom because it is a bit of a tight fit in the bathroom. What was not nice is that they show you where you can park your bike in the Hof, and I licked mi… more

I was happy to find a good deal on a clean and centrally located hotel. The room was fine, only I hit my arm a few times on the heater in the bathroom because it is a bit of a tight fit in the bathroom. What was not nice is that they show you where you can park your bike in the Hof, and I licked mine to the rack there only to find it was pooped on 5 times during the night. Then I noticed that the birds always nest overhead and there is a ton of poop on the ground there. Perhaps in the future they will live the rack away from the building. But actually, bikes are parked all over the place and if I go again I’ll park it somewhere else, seems safe enough.
