“Great hotel for families”

Stayed here on short-fuse ski trip and enjoyed every minute. Stayed in the family suite deluxe- very nice 2 floor room with plenty of space for our family. Was expensive- cost over $900 USD total for two nights, but we needed the room and this was one of the few available. Breakfast was fantastic- my family is picky eaters and everyone found something. We skipped the German dinner, which cost extra. No way my kids would eat any of it anyway. Plenty of other dining options in the area. Tip 1: leave early if you’re skiing on the weekend. The cars will jam up the highway and you’ll easily spend an hour + in traffic going up the mountain. Tip 2: the outdoor pool is great but you might get an eyeful from the small sauna facing the pool with a big window. Yep, you guessed it, they’re in their birthday suits, lol. Tip 3: 1 complimentary drink per guest per night. Also get credit at the bar if you decline housekeeping. Tip 4: For military families, they didn’t accept my VAT form so got hit with the German tax. That was my gripe with the hotel, but it’s not necessarily a dealbreaker for such a nice place. Still, you should try asking them about it. Maybe with enough inquires they’ll start accepting the VAT forms.

The 5 of us (2 adults and 3 teenage kids) had a great 3 nights at the hotel as part of a longer summer holiday. The breakfasts were excellent and so were the evening meals. There was a v good family feel to the hotel and nothing was too much trouble. It’s our first time to the Black Forest but with the stay came cards which meant pretty much everything we wanted to do was free of charge - trains, buses, ski lifts, toboggan rides, boats trips etc, etc. You could even rent a BMW i3 for 3 hours for no charge every day! This was a bit of a revelation for us and when there’s 5 of you the amount of money this saves mounts up v quickly. This saved us €hundreds. Our only criticism (like that posted elsewhere) is the speed of the internet but this isn’t of great inconvenience unless you are a teenager with thumbs that have to be glued to a screen 101% of the time. Would we go back? - it’s a universal “yes” from all of us.

We travel a lot and have experienced various 4 star hotels. This hotel has the capabilities of being a true nice place to be but lacks to fulfill this opportunity. The rooms are fine although the bed a bit to hard. The breakfast is excellent nothing wrong about it. The crew does not seem be a team and lacks the ability to create good atmosphere and feeing welcome. It seems that there is something wrong within the team they lack the right mindset. Another bad experience is the WiFi. Within a good 4 star hotel this is a basic topic that needs to be without a question ok. Within this hotel the WiFi is really poor. Not acceptable. Overall an average 4 star hotel despite all good possibilities.
