“Excellent stay!”

We had a great stay, on level 5, in a spacious room. The hotel is located a short walk from shops, restaurants, cafes and the main central area of Tubingen. It was about a 10 min walk to the hotel from the main train station. The staff were wonderful, and there is complimentary tea, coffee in reception. There is a buffet breakfast which sadly we did not get to experience and the hotel is also dog friendly. We found our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The whole hotel and room were very clean and tidy. I would definitely stay here again!

“Good enough, but lack of parking is a pain”

Decent hotel conveniently located, walking distance to everything. The room was a lot smaller than it looked in the photos. It was described as a “family suite”, but it wasn’t really - it was just a standard hotel room with 2 twin beds and a sofa bed. So I was a bit disappointed with that. But it was clean and the beds were comfortable. Parking is a bit inconvenient: the hotel car park (which is almost impossible to find) is tiny and was full when we arrived. So we used a public car park. You have to walk over a bridge to get to the hotel and this would be a bit of a pain with lots of luggage. But they do have 3-4 temporary parking spaces outside. You can use these for loading/unloading.

“Excellent if the air con is working!!”

We checked in for 3 nights. Booked the suite on the 8th floor which turned out to be a conference room with a double bed added!! We checked in for 3 nights. Booked the suite on the 8th floor which turned out to be a conference room with a double bed added!! The table and chairs were still there and the extra toilet was full of stacked chairs. Weird! No fridge or any other extras - just a long spacious room with a carpeted floor. No proper views as there was a horrible concrete ledge outside . We had a problem which reception sorted immediately so I won’t go there. We were then given a corner room on the 7th floor which was so much better than the “suite” on the 8th. Plenty of room and 2 double beds . Thank heavens because there was no air con. The hotel had a notice up apologising for one of their pumps being broken. They gave us 2 bottles of water to make sure we didn’t get dehydrated and offered ice cream at reception also free. The heat was just intolerable and I managed 3 hrs sleep on the first night. We opened windows on the other 2 nights but my husband was badly bitten by mosquitos (he’s very susceptible to this). The kind bar staff gave me glasses of ice cubes to take to our room and to put on his bites. I was nearly crying at the thought of having yet another 2 nights here but we survived! The staff are all wonderful. Not sure about housekeeping though - one of them barged into our room before 10am when I was getting dressed!! We were only supposed to check out at 12 so she should have knocked - and 2 hours later!! The bar prices are so reasonable and the bar is nicely furnished. Everything clean and shiny. We never got our room serviced in the 3 days there as we like to help the environment. They put a treat in a bag you leave on the room door. You get a measly chocolate or a tiny bag of haribos. No thanks! I’d prefer a voucher for a free drink or towards breakfast. The 7th floor was really noisy even with closed windows. The sound from the trains is terrible and you can hear people talking from the ground floor outdoor area as well as groups of people on the terraced outdoor area of the next building along. Location is very good but I will not be returning.

A mixed bag. On the plus side: the hotel is quire new, well maintained, and very clean. It was quite quiet when I was there, with one big exception I'll get to. The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was fine although not elaborate. The location is very convenient to the main train station and downtown. My room was small but adequate and comfortable for the most part. Now the negatives. The back of the hotel overlooks the tracks coming into the train station. If the window is closed, the noise is fairly well muted. I noticed it, but it was usually not bothersome. With the window open, however, it's loud. The staff explained that there is no AC, only ventilation, but the ventilation in my room, despite two complaints, was a trickle, not noticeable unless I stood on a chair and put my hand next to the vent. Since my room overlooked the train tracks, I couldn't leave the window open, so on two humid nights, the room became so uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep well. The staff gave me a little table fan to use. If you are traveling for any length of time, be forewarned that the hotel has no laundry service. I was unable to find a reasonably quick turn-around laundry and ended up washing clothes the the bathroom sink. Fortunately, I had brought a portable clothesline, but the bathroom wasn't large, so I could only dry a modest amount and ended up washing clothes three nights. A minor thing: perhaps because of the small size of the room, the in-room safe was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel room. I normally store my laptop in the safe, but this one was both far too shallow and far too narrow. I used it only for my passport. I would consider staying there in cold weather when one can leave the windows closed, but I'll avoid it in warm or marginal weather.
